Re: Favorite DLR Food

Last May when we went we ate at Yamabuki's for my bday dinner...it was GREAT!!! Food was sooooo goood, can't wait until we can go again in October!!! it was a bit expensive, but well worth it!!! we also took my teenage sister and brother with us and they adored the mexican place in DCA, but I'm not sure what the name of it was~

Re: Favorite DLR Food

Yes, I'm reviving this thread... but I started it, so I think it's my duty since I'm getting close to another trip!

Last time I took many of the recommnedations to heart (Dznygrl's pasta, Dole Whip, beignets, Bengal BBQ chicken skewars - of course) and had a great time! I'm hoping to enjoy some of the same, and maybe some new treats this year.

Any other new favorites I need to try?

Dole Whips and Bengal BBQ are my favorites. Have you had Safari Skewers from Bengal BBQ? Those are the bacon wrapped asparagus skewers which are to die for. If you haven't tried them, you must do so before Bengal BBQ closes forever.

Otherwise I'm a huge frozen lemonade fan. I always grab one from Frontierland during each trip. I've heard great things about Tigger Tails which you get from the Pooh Store in Critter Country. Basically they are marshmallows and caramel covered in orange chocolate and they look like Tigger's tail. They also have different varieties like a smores Tigger tail. I'm all over that during mine and Andrew's trip in February. I love new foods!!

And you can never go wrong with Mickey ice cream sandwiches and Mickey rice krispy treats. Oooh! And the giant pickles from the fruit stands...yum!

Re: Favorite DLR Food

Okay, does anyone know what I'm talking about when I mention the waffle and honey cookies that they used to sell at the Critter Country store??

Last time we were there, they didn't have them anymore......DH and I were SO SAD! They were little flat cookies in Pooh packaging; we used to buy them everytime we got off of the Pooh ride as a tradition.

When I was in The Netherlands three years ago, you could find these everywhere. In fact, my cousin and I went to a street fair in Amsterdam, and they had a stand where they were making them fresh! The guy was ladling the syrup right on to the waffles and then placing the other waffle to form the little "sandwich".

I have to agree with Voldemort. To die for.

Re: Favorite DLR Food

I was happy to see they started to sell the special Monte Cristo sandwich in CS now. We will definitely save the big $$$ on the Blue Bayou sit down next time.

Well they moved the Monte Cristo to Cafe Orleans, but the Cafe has been made into a sit-down restaurant. It's no longer counter-service.

And unfortunately the price of the Monte Cristo didn't change much. Basically the Bayou prices went up, and the Cafe got the Bayou's old prices. I was pretty upset about this. I think it's ripping people off.

Yes, they need more sit-down service in DL, but this was a stinky move.

(P.S. If I'm wrong, and they're selling it at CS now, I apologize. The last I knew the only place the Monte Cristo had moved was to the Cafe, after the restaurant was converted to table service. So that's where my info comes from...)
