Favorite DLR Food

I know there have been similar threads like this in the past, but it's been a while since people have had a chance to get those gastric juices flowing, thinking about all the yummy food DLR (either park or DTD) has to offer.

My brother and brother-in-law spent a good 20 minutes the other day planning food options for our trip - so I can reassure you that any recommendations will be appreciated. Our favorites are Bengal BBQ, the hot dogs at Refreshment Corner (on Mainstreet), Blue Bayou, and my one-and-only experience (so far) at The Vineyard Room was AMAZING. But we tend to eat at the same places over and over (and I can only handle burgers and chicken strips so many times), so I'd love to hear what other places we should try out. Plus, now that we're older (and gainfully employed), I'd like to branch out some!

Snacks are fair-game too (the diet (re)starts AFTER the trip, since our mission is to pretty much eat our way through the park!). IMHO, nothing beats DL's churros!

Kristy

Re: Favorite DLR Food

Awesome thread... Who cares if someone has done something like it before! We'll make this one better anyways!

SNACKS
Chocolate covered banana on a stick... Oooooooooooh, how I love thee!

BREAKFAST
I already ate a Pop Tart back in the room, so I have to hurry and get a Fast Pass for Indiana Jones and get in line for Splash Mountain before it's too late!

LUNCH
At the Blue Bayou I could go for a Monte Christo Sandwich and Mint Julip right now!

DINNER
At the Grand Californian I have grown to love Storyteller's Cafe and I would try something new!

I hope I have given you a few new ideas!!!

Re: Favorite DLR Food

I can only address snacks; there isn't a meal that I'm overly excited about at Disneyland or DCA.

My favorite snack:White Chocolate Chocolate Raspberry Cookies. Yes, the word "chocolate" actually does appear twice. They have these fresh at the Market House, but packaged other places. BEST COOKIE EVER! They're the only thing I'll go out of my way to make sure I get; neither churros nor Dole Whips do that much for me.

Oh... at Blue Bayou, I always get an extra box of the doubloons. Yummy! I'm sensing my own little chocolate theme!

Re: Favorite DLR Food

Yahoo, another churro lover! I'll try to mention some not already mentioned.

Breakfast--Pancakes at River Bell Terrace! Just get there early, like when the park opens. If you are there on a busy day, it can take a very long time to get indoors. I had to skip it last time because of the long lines. But it's nice to sit outside in the morning sun, people watch and sip a cup of coffee. The cinnamon rolls are good as well.

Lunch and/or Dinner --Taste Pilots Grill in DCA for something quick, the salads at Cafe Orleans.

Snacks-- Catch-A-Flave in DCA is vanilla soft serve ice cream with a thin swirl of a syrup in it (it comes out alongside the ice cream). We had chocolate, but they other flavors- cotton candy, strawberry and bubble gum are three I remember. My DH and I were talking about this place last night, lol. I also like a pineapple spear from one of the fruit stands in DL.

I have always wanted to do the port and blue cheese tasting at the Golden Vine in DCA for a snack, and try RB's in DTD.

Re: Favorite DLR Food

Hi Kristy! I snuck in only moments before our computer goes bye-bye and we get on the plane to CA....but I HAD to throw in my two cents!

Can't live without chicken fusilli from Redd Rockett's. It looks like ordinary pasta, nothing fancy, but it tastes OUT OF THIS WORLD!!!! OMG, so good. (Whoa. That was a really bad pun. Not intentional, I swear.) The pizza is decent at Redd Rockett's, but who really wants to eat more pizza/chicken strips/fries, etc.?? Go for the chicken fusilli!!!!!!!!

Re: Favorite DLR Food

Dznygrl, I've heard (err... read) you talk about that pasta before - we'll have to try it this next time. Maybe you'll have to join us for lunch!

Dole whip - can you believe I've never had that before? <gasp!> Adding to list of things to try. My brother loves the frozen lemonade, so this may be a nice change!

Beignets?!?!?! How did I not know they had those! (as my DBIL would say) "Deep fried dough... mmmmmm!"

Is the Brennans in DTD as good as the one in New Orleans - that place is incredible! Turtle soup (sigh). I'm getting hungry!

I'm ashamed to admit that I have not been to the Brennans in N.O. even though we've been. I can't seem to get my husband away from Emeril's places.
We did eat at the one in DTD recently and it was yummy although I avoid the "fast service" part...except for the beignets.....YUMMY!!!!

Re: Favorite DLR Food

I second dznygrl's vote for Chicken Fusilli at Redd Rocketts.
Also another vote for the soup at Boudin's bakery in DCA. Broccoli Cheese soup in a bread bowl is to die for!!!
