Because most senior CM's aren't members. DL actually discourages CM's from joining, with the (legitimate) fear that they will just take over the place.

Dh isn't a member, but is going as an invited guest with a vendor, who is a member, along with several others from his staff.

Dh has in the past been able to get in if it's not full, and if it's a business lunch. But this time, they actually have reservations.
