Ok, so we are only going to have 3 days in DLR (staying at GC) because 1 of our days will be spent on a tour of Los Angeles/Hollywood, etc. We are definitely planning on Napa Rose, but what are some other "must do" places to eat? I want quick service, counter service, and table service. (Our favorite thing to do in WDW is eat our way thru Magic Kingdom and Epcot), so I wanna know where all the best goodies are so I can pack in as much as possible in 3 days!

Napa Rose is a wonderful restaurant.

Unfortunately, I can't afford to eat there all the time. But then, they don't serve breakfast or lunch, either..

There are a multitude of restaurants that will suit you. Most are good. But luckily for you, as you have no children tagging along, you can avoid the Pizza Port. Ugh.

GC - Grand Californian
DD - Downtown Disney
DLR - Disneyland
CAR - California Adventure

Seriously, here are the best six restaurants for sit down service:

Napa Rose - GC - Absolutely the best meal you will ever have hands down.
Jazz Kitchen - DD - Open for breakfast (Eggs St. Charles ) lunch and dinner.
Blue Bayou - DLR - a little pricey now, since being a pirate is popular.
Catal - DD- I've only ate breakfast here, but it's worth it.
Storyteller's Cafe - GC - Only eaten dinner, but the buffet is the best buffet ever.
Carnation Cafe - DLR unfortunately, it can get busy there.


Counter Service - I haven't done much of this..

La Brea Bakery Cafe - DD - Is both counter and sit down, but the sandwiches are yummy.
Bengal Barbeque - DLR - for a light snack to get you through the day.
The Golden Horseshoe - DLR - more for entertainment than nourishment - 'cept for the fried cheese sticks!
Pacific Wharf Cafe - CAR - Soup in a homemade sourdough bowl.

Oh, and you absolutely HAVE to try a smoked turkey leg!

Carnation Cafe!! As 626 said, it can get busy but if you make a Priority Seating ressie...it really helps!

I also really love Bengal BBQ!!! Oh and have a Dole Whip at the Enchanted Tiki Room:)

Um..for me..the turkey leg is a no go

thanks so much for the replies-they all sound so yummy, I don't know if we'll have time to try everything, but we'll give it a go! I've had the turkey leg and the dole whips in WDW, so we may pass on it in DLR, since we're looking for new things to try. Although, it is really hard to pass up the turkey leg and dole whip, so, we'll see

The dole whips are conveniently available on your way to (or from) Bengal BBQ, so it would be easy to pick one up while you happen to be in the area...

Depending on where you find yourself at breakfast time, I'd offer a couple of caveats about Cafe Orleans: first, their breakfast service was less than desirable, and second, they use powdered eggs . They have a terrific 3-cheese Monte Cristo, though, so if you're there in the morning, I'd recommend that.

It isn't a food thing, but if you and your hubby enjoy wine, you should stop by Golden Vine in California Adventure for a tasting. It makes for a nice break in the afternoon.

I second 6-2-6's recommendations of Napa Rose, Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen and the Storyteller's Cafe. Try the oyster shooters at the Jazz Kitchen (I'm surprised 6-2-6 didn't mention these!). I believe there is a character breakfast at Storyteller's, but definitely go for the buffet (the prime rib is awesome).

Now, if you're in DTD (and you will be since you're staying at the GC), don't forget to hit Marceline's Confectionary (wonderful candy and cookie selections). Also, if you get in the mood for Mexican food, you can try Tortilla Joe's (El Rancho del Zocalo in Frontierland at DLR also offers some good Mexican food).

I'd also mention the ESPN Zone and Rainforest Cafe, but since you're looking for something new, never mind .

Have fun and be sure to tell us all about it in a TR when you get home.

No, that's what turkey dark meat looks like when it's smoked.

Having smoked many a turkey for thanksgiving, trust me, it's not a bizarro soylent green product..

As for Oyster Shooters, I didn't mention as she didn't ask what to eat, but merely where.

If she wants, I can fax over the menu from Napa Rose and Jazz Kitchen!

haha, I've had the wdw turkey legs and they are delish, even if they do appear sort of bizarro, I know they are fine....
I don't know how I'd do with oyster shooters-not too much of an oyster fan. Yeah, I just want to know the places to eat, although recommendations are appreciated too.

Um, Jazz Kitchen has great soups.

Back in 2001, they served Snapping Turtle Soup. It was delish!

Best Prime Rib is in Blue Bayou..

Napa Rose does a tasting menu, a four course dinner. Runs about $85.00 a person, + $40.00 if you pair with wines..

The tasting menu changes each week.

So if money is no object, you can go on Thursday Night, then return on Friday or Saturday for an entirely different meal.

But, if you read our trip reports, the tasting menu was hands down the best meal I have ever had in my entire life..
