Trivia time!

I have a DLR trivia game for us! All these submarine memories got me going.

Here are the rules:

You can ask one trivia question, and it can relate to anything Disneyland Resort related. Be that Disneyland, California Adventure, any of the 3 hotels, or Downtown Disney. It can be about anything of the past, present, or future. Locations of places/things, history, little-known facts or places, events, sequences, whatever you want! Anything DLR related.

However, in order to ask your question for everyone else, you have to answer the one in the post above yours first. Feel free to search the net for answers! (ie, cheating is allowed!)

I'll start with the first question.

Including the Autotopia that currently graces Tomorrowland, how many Autotopia attractions has Disneyland seen over the years, and how were they different, and where were they located?

Re: Trivia time!

count me in Disneywife! :-) Autopia...how may were there and where were they? I believe there were 3 Autopias originally. One which was in Fantasyland and Tomorrowland. The one in Fantasyland was known as the "Midget Autopia" which was the 3rd smallest track and that was for much smaller kids who couldnt yet ride the Tomworrowland Autopia/Janitor Autopia. Then there was the Tomorrowland Autopia, which was for the bigger/older kids and was the largest track. Then there was the Janitor Autopia which was the 2nd largest track. But then the Fantasyland Autopia closed to make way for the new ride "Its a Small World" and the Janitor Autopia then became known ad the "new" Fantasyland Autopia. Well then the Janiotor Autopia closed for a while and then the Tomorrowland Autopia and the new Fantasyland Autopia combinded to now form the what we have as todays Tomorrowland Autopia. And of course it has closed for re-furbs and that sort. Now for the locations. The Fantasyland Autopia "midget Autopia" was located right next to The Storyland Canal Boats across from the old Motor Boat Cruise. The Tomorrowland Autopia was located to where it is now only it has expanded and been greatly and wonderfully updated. And the Janitor Autopia was around where the old Fantasyland Autopia was but relocated a bit to fit around "Its a Small World" and that sort. But thats what I know. :-) :-)

Re: Trivia time!

Now you get to ask a trivia question!

So, including the current Chevrolet Autopia, there would be four - the current one, the original Tomorrowland one, the original Fantasyland one (which were combined to create the super-huge current one), and Midget Autopia. (Gee, can't imagine that name would offend anyone, huh? LOL)

I've been searching, and can't come up with a concrete answer, but I'm going to guess based on this article from 2001:

http://www.dcacentral.com/dca/showcontent.php?ID=21

I'm not so sure these were Disney official locations or rumored locations, but I'm going to guess in the Timon parking lot or "down the street" from the Hyperion Theatre (see article), when in fact it is next door to the Hyperion Theatre, not down the street (not sure if that's concrete enough) and I park in the Timon parking lot with every visit.

Did I come close?

Here's my trivia question:

What are the names of at least two singing birds who reside in the Tiki Room?

Re: Trivia time!

Disneywife- Sorry to tell you but no you wernt right. The original location of DCA's Tower of Terror was to be in Disneyland Paris's Disney Studios. But becuase of money matters Disneyland Paris didnt have it built. So instead of having to re-design a whole new tower for DCA Disney just decided to build Disneyland Paris's tower at DCA.
As for your question- 2 birds names who reside in The Tiki Room at DL I believe are Jose and Fritz. :-) :-)

Also, come on everyone! Join in on the trivia with disneywife and me. Your all welcome to play along with us, the more the merrier!

Re: Trivia time!

1. Forced Perspective
2. Don't know how many stories

What characters remain and are hidden in the Winnie the Pooh ride that were residents of the previous attraction?

Oh, ok, I thought you meant another location at DCA.

Ok, now, I read, in my searching last night for your question, that Disneyland's Tower of Terror is designed in California's unique "Pueblo Deco" architecture that can only be found on a few buildings, Los Angeles City Hall being one of them. And it is built 2 stories into the ground (and is therefore shorter than the one at WDW) for reasons of earthquake safety... so I'm not so sure that the DCA TOT design would be found anywhere else. It's very unique. But inside, maybe it's the same infrastructure (layout of the ride) and maybe the funds that were intended for Paris were moved to DCA. Maybe that's what you mean?

Anyhow...yes, Jose and Fritz...Tiki Tiki Tiki Tiki Tiki room....

I know I know!!

http://www.pacificsites.com/~drhoades/critter.htm

Occupying the same space as the Country Bear Jamboree (later the Country Bear Vacation Hoedown and seasonally the Country Bear Christmas Show), the chubby little tubby all stuffed with fluffy and his friends moved in in 2003. Ride your own honeycomb/beehive through a blusterry day, look for heffalumps, and celebrate Pooh's birthday. And just so you know, the Country Bears aren't completely gone. Just before entering the final birthday scene, look up. Right there on the wall overhead you'll see Buff, Max and Melvin, just as you may remember them.

Walt had an apartment above the Main Street Firehouse. However, at the time of his death, he was building a second, larger apartment. Where was it and what is there now?

Re: Trivia time!

Why is everything at Disneyland always built below ground and making it shorter than it really is?? Geez. I know its for earth quake safety but still. The second appt. I believe was above the entrance to POTC. Then after Walt died it was never finished and then it was turned into offices. Then in the late 80's early 90's (or some where around that time) it was then turned into the Disney Gallery. I think thats the one Im thinking of. There was also the little Appt. in the castle But Walt never really used it because of no AC and no heater so now its just used as "contemporay storage". Now my question- How much did it cost to get Fantasmic! built and where is the dragon stored and how much is each showing? Also how is the dragon, dressing rooms, electrical and that sort reached by CM's?

You've stumped me. I can't find anything!

I'll give some off guesses - no idea about the cost to build it (my guess is not much considering that Tom Sawyer's island was already there, there are no seating areas, just park yourself somewhere on the river's edge, just the lighting, the screens, the characters...I dunno?) It opened in 1992.

Access is via Tom Sawyer's island?

What is the statue in circular garden at the end of main street?

Re: Trivia time!

Here are the answers. It was 30 million dollars to build Disneylands Fantasmic!. It costs about $12,000 per Fantasmic and to access all the stuff during Fantasmic! the CM's must use under ground tunnels, which stay sealed until to showings of Fantasmic!. Thats the answers to the questions I asked. :-) Heres my next question. How did Walt get the Matterhorn built at the height it is with the height restrictions being lower at the time it was built? :-) :-) :-)
