WDW castle overlay

ugh, I am just so upset right now I need to tell my feelings to some one who might remotley care. Now I dont want to upset any of you WDW fans but I am just expressing my thoughts, Im just SO disgusted from this subject right now. I was reading and I found out, along with pictures that WDW's Cinderella's castle is getting a 50th overlay as well. I am so upset and disgusted by this right now Its not even funny. UGH I dont want any of you WDW fans to be affended, Im just expressing my thoughts. I just dont understand why WDW is getting a 50th overlay when its not even their 50th Anniversary. Here is a link to pictures on the subject. I know its "The Happiest Celebration on Earth" and people dont think of Just Disneyland but its Disneyland thats turning 50, not the other parks. Sorry if this offended anyone.

Re: WDW castle overlay

I think maybe the reason that they are doing this that more people come to WDW than DL and all of the Disney properties are celebrating the 50th "happiest Celebration on Earth". I think that this may be why they are doing this to the castle at WDW as well as DL. I understand your frustration, but look at from this point of view. They want as many people as possible to experience this special disney occasion and they can do this by extending to the most popular disney park in the disney family. But, that just my take on it.

Re: WDW castle overlay

When I first read that they were changing the castle for the celebration, I thought "Oh NO!, not another pink cake." But after seeing pic's and thinking about it, I can't wait to see it!!! I'm going to TRY and keep it a secret from the kids and maybe DH too so see there reaction when we get there...I personally think it'll be awesome and can't wait to be there to celebrate 50 years of Disney!!!!

well I still think the crown jewel castle should have only been at DLR, not WDW. But thats just my opinion. But thank you for your replies on the subject......

Re: WDW castle overlay

I think it looks really nice. I like the gold, it's kinda classy. (unlike a certain pink cake... ahem...) As of now I hope they put the castle back to the way it was before after the 50th, but we'll see how I feel after I see it in person. :)

I understand how you feel, anaheimboy. It is DL's party. But I think Lawwin got it just right - Disney's trying to spread the party around.

They should return the castle back to normal, or so I think. And I understand what their trying to do, spread the party around, but there are just certain things that need to stay at certain parks, to have it as their own kinda thing.

Re: WDW castle overlay

I really never knew there was so much of a feeling of division among the parks.
I've seen it on here alot, and the DL lovers (which, you guys are awesome!) seem to really feel a division towards WDW.

Why?

I've never been to DL, so maybe that's why I don't get it. I've just noticed a theme in a lot of DLer's posts...almost an uneasiness (for lack of a better word) towards WDW...

*shrug*

Anyway, I get what you're saying - it's DL's 50th...but, I've noticed that they are bringing shows from other parks abroad to WDW....I think it all comes down to money for the 'big wigs'...

I hear ya. DL deserves a party. They're getting most of the goodies, right? I haven't been following it all that close.

We have a "division" because WDWers always think their better than us DLRers because everything there is "bigger and better", but us DLers also do the same twords WDWers, only in a different matter. You cant really understand the concept of our "division" arrguments until you actually come and experience both resorts for yourself, if you get what I mean. But all in all our arguemnts are merly ones opinion on a subject and all of us just kinda of join in on the subject. Im not really aruging over the 50th overlays, but merly expressing my main feeling on the subject. I hope yall understand I mean no "harm".....just expressing what I feel. And I express what I feel on here because I know I can count on all of you to give me good advice and good feedback on "issues" that I have with certain subjects.

Re: WDW castle overlay

I am sorry this upsets you.

I knew all the parks were taking part in the celebration, I think it's great. DL started it all and this is a way to bring that to everyone, not just those who visit DL. I think the castle looks nice in the picture, very classy. I can't wait to see it in person.

I don't think I am better than anyone. I don't think WDW is better than DL, it's different. I would love to visit DL some day, I really believe a large part of Walt is there. He died before WDW was even close to finished so, yes, it was his dream but he didn't live to see it carried out.

This division is new to me, too. I had no idea there might be some hard feelings in all of this.

Re: WDW castle overlay

I haven't felt a division, I certainly hope I don't come across that way. I mean, I just flew across the country to experience WDW! And had a great time at that.

I do understand how anaheimboy feels, however, but it really is all about money. Whatever will make Disney money at this point, they will do. I think it might make some things confusing, however, to "celebrate 50 years of Disney," when in fact, Disney has been around much longer than that, and Walt Disney World has been around for much less than that. I think that Disney should make it clear that this is DisneyLAND's birthday, and that we are spreading the party around. I don't mind WDW celebrating it, but I hope that the masses of people don't get the impression that WDW has been around for 50 years...it might make WDW's upcoming 35th anniversary seem kinda confusing!

Re: WDW castle overlay

Aww, Anaheim, I didn't mean that you were trying to argue. I just wondered why there seemed to be a division. I don't think less of DL, I've just never been there. I do agree with you, that DL should be the focus, it's DL's party....

It's a bummer that they can't let DL have that. Like I said, though, it's all about money. Making it a huge celebration brings in more money.

Re: WDW castle overlay

Also, this is from that post that anaheimboy linked to:

"And in the middle of it all, a magical palate of ever-changing stained glass above the castle's great archway will shine with a breathtaking view of the five Disney castles from around the world."

That makes sense. We can look at it as not only Disneyland's 50th birthday, but also as the 50th anniversary of the beginning of the Disney theme parks. That would include all the parks, and I think that WDW's castle showing all 5 castles is a wonderful idea.
