Oh My Aching Back!!!

My best wishes to all!!! I'm hoping you folks can give me a few tips of advise. My wife and two sons will be visiting Disneyland in March and I am a bit nervous about it to say the least. Having never been to DL, I kinda don't know what to expect. My problem is that I have a very bad back due to disc problems.....I have to use a cane if I am going to be on my feet for any real amount of time. You're probably wondering why the heck would I plan a trip to DISNEYLAND!!!!! Well. it's a dream of my son's to go and what won't we do for our kids!!!!! I'm hoping this old man of 46 can hold up to it all. Does the park offer any help at all for someone like me...??? "In park" transportation of some kind or maybe a place to sit while waiting in line for rides??? I know the lines and wait time can get pretty long. Any insights or info. would sure be great! Thanks!!!

Re: Oh My Aching Back!!!

I would rent a wheelchair if I were you. There is a lot of walking involved and even if you just use it between rides it will be a big help.

Re: Oh My Aching Back!!!

The park offers all types of transportation for those of you who have a bit harder time getting around. They have wheelchairs and the electric ones too, or so I remember. Dont worry all will be fine! Have a great trip! :-) May I ask one question, why dont you just wait until May or something to go so that you can go for the actual 50th? Its only 2 months longer, Im sure you could wait a bit longer, lol j/k ;-). Well you will have fun no matter when you go! :-)

Re: Oh My Aching Back!!!

Every trip i have to DL my grandpa uses an electric wheelchair. It's VERY convineint. He gets around swift, and he keeps up with us. The battery can last about 7 hours. (i'm estimating) but My g-pa gets a full days use out of it most of the time. IF it's running out of batterys the light turns red on it , you just drive back to the park entrance and they will replace it with a fully charged new one. Have A lot of fun!! If you cant hit all the rides you can always watch the great shows... Fantasmic is awsome. So is the Aladin show in California Adventure. The Disneyland railroad is always fun and relaxing too.

Re: Oh My Aching Back!!!

I heard DLR will be getting a whole new line of 2005 electric scooters for those of you who cant get around as well as others, so they may have those in when you go. Have fun!

Re: Oh My Aching Back!!!

Im not sure about DL, but on our trip to WDW Pops used a motorized scooter ($40 a day rental ) It was very convenient and on most rides, he could ride it right up to the ride instead of that long walk from the entrance.

We had no problems with the battery and it even had a light on it that light up when lighting was low.

I would definately recommend this to you over a conventional wheelchair. Pops was able to enjoy the day just like eveyone else and not be in pain.

Jen

Welcome to DC btw
