CM Questions
Hi, all...I was wondering. How old do you have to be to be a CM/Disney character? Is it really worth it? Do you have to live in certain homes (besides just in Anaheim) to work there? And, if it's not too personal, how much does it usually pay?
I'm just curious. I kind of think it would be fun to work there, you know, in... Disneyland .I hope I posted this in the right place...

Re: CM Questions
I don't know about an age limit just for characters, but to work at Disneyland you have to be 18. And I don't see why you can't live wherever you want to....??? (I guess I don't understand that question) Not everyone who works at DLR lives in Anaheim. There are oh, about a thousand other places you could live within driving distance....
Dh works at DLR, and I used to work in Anaheim as well, but we've never lived in Anaheim. DL doesn't care where you live as long as you show up to work when you're supposed to. |

Re: CM Questions
Yea, the youngest age is 18 and you dont have to live in a certain area, just as long as you can get to work....thats all that really matters. And the pay ranges, I think the starting wage is some where between 7.00 - 8.25 per hour...but Im not 100% sure (could be more, could be less). I would say its worth it, but thats just me.

Re: CM Questions
Hi Ariel,
Not sure what entertainment pays. I worked in stores/merchandising and I started $7.83/hour. I got at least two raises in the time I worked there (only 2 months) PLUS I got a shift differential bonus as I worked until about 3 a.m. I don't think entertainment gets a higher wage than attractions/stores, etc., but I know they work for half an hour/get a half-hour break, work for half an hour/get a half-hour break...it continues that way through their shift. Those breaks are paid. (They definitely need all that break time, especially in the summer!) BTW...the age requirement for characters is 17, as long as you are a graduating senior. Everything else is 18.

Re: CM Questions
I heard as well with a work permit signed by your High School principal, if Disney will permit you they let you sell balloons on Main Street at 16, but I think the actual age is 17...but who knows?
