Disney 50th trip report

My trip to DL July 12-19 was from my husband for my 50th birthday present. He is such a sweetheart. There were 3 of us on this trip; my husband, daughter (22 yrs) and me. We stayed at the DLH Bonita Tower with a 5 day hopper

. For the crowds being there with it being summer and Disney's 50th (July 17) the lines were as bad as I expected. We had a great time with breaks going to Catalina Island and Universal Studios

. But on the 17th we were up at 6am to get in line at the Monorail to get into the park by 8am and to receive the "special" Golden Ears they were passing out to guests. The "special" ears were all that special, just a gold cap with a Disneyland 50th sticker on the front and the date sewn on the back. They also handed out Birthday cupcakes all over the place all day long. The dedication ceremony was wonderful and very moving especially when Art Linkletter was talking

. They also had Diane Disney Miller, The California Govenator Arnold, Eisner and someone else speak. We got to catch the first "offical" screening of Turtle Talk with Crush in DCA, it was fabulous

. I also liked the new Space Mountain and the soundtrack. I am looking forward to seeing the progress on the "new" Finding Nemo ride that will be taking over the Submarine Lagoon area. As usual I bought too much stuff and had to head for the Business Center at the DLH to ship off 4 boxes home

. All in all it was a wonderful trip and can't wait to plan my next one.

What a great birthday present!! It sounds like you had a fabulous time, despite the large crowds!
