Blue Bayou?

I read that POTC is down until mid-late June. Is BB still a good place to eat while this ride is being refurbished? We are planning our trip in early June 2006.

Re: Blue Bayou?

Really...hmm..hadn't heard that..WOW! That's a long time seeing that it's in the middle of the "Celebration"...Anyway...the food will still be good...but you may lose a bit of atmosphere(so wanted to type "Hatmosphere") because you might not be able to see the bayou part of the Blue Bayou:( Are you sure that the BB will be open during that time. I have found that they sometimes close both the ride and the BB.....

Re: Blue Bayou?

Both POTC and the Blue Bayou are scheduled to be closed from March 6 to June 16 for refurbishment. They'll be doing some long-needed repairs and will also be adding as many as 3 Captain Jack Sparrow Audio-Animatronic figures to the ride.

Re: Blue Bayou?

It is sad, they do almost always close them together...

The Blue Bayou is my favorite! When POTC comes back it should have some new Cap'n Jack Sparrow twists and additions to the ride...

The Cap'n Jack Sparrow thing sounds.....cool I think...I'm not really sure how I feel about that Love the movie....love Cap'n Jack...just don't know how I feel about him being a part of the attraction. I guess they will blend him in nicely with the other though....Just as long as they don't take out the dog that sings along...Arf..arf!

Re: Blue Bayou?

WHAT? Closed for refurbishment until June 16th??????? Oh my, oh my. I REALLLLLLLY hope that June 16th date doesn't extend itself any farther considering the DL POTC & BB is one of the MAIN reason I look forward to making the trek to California!!!!!! I am arriving on June 27th, PLEASE PLEASE, let it reopen before then!!!

My Dad has NEVER seen that POTC, it would be a sacrilege to take him and it not be open!!!!

I have arrived on several trips to DL where POTC was opening after a refurbishment and it has reopened within a day or two of the target! So I wouldn't worry about it too much. POTC is a gem and the DL folks will want it as sparkly as can be for the Summer. Oh, and not too mention the release of the new POTC movie!

The movie release is July 7th...

And I am a little more accepting of the changes, because when the POTC ride was changed to be more politically correct the sanctity of the ride had already been spoiled to me, so this may actually add some new charm in replacement of that which was lost... Arrrrrrrrrrr!

Re: Blue Bayou?

There is a LOT to that ride underground. They will most likely just close the Blue Bayou to do the work in the bayou portion of pirates...

In a way, it might be better without the ride, the noises from the riders, the camera flashes...

I don't think they would close the BB down for the ENTIRE ride refurbishment..

However, a good alternative is the Jazz Kitchen in Downtown Disney..

what did they change to make it more politacally correct? I never remember noting anything bad about it, but maybe I was too young...

They used to have male pirates chasing women (or wenches) around in a circle. That was one of the things that was deemed un-pc. Now they have women chasing men with rolling pins and what not.

Also, the fat, pirate sitting in front of the barrel holding a chicken leg wasn't always enjoying a buffet. He used to hold some...uh...ladies under garments and talked about "wenches." Seems harmless...but you know how some folks can be...we wouldn't want a pirate to actually act like a pirate...

I've heard that the WDW PotC will be getting the same Cap'n Jack rehab sometime in late 06 or early 07...
