Hey Lacey! I don't know the answer to your question although I DO know they need to bring that Indi ride to WDW ASAP. I know the ride is in either the Tokyo or Paris park too, can't remember which.

Re: Indiana Jones

Yeah, there are some non Disney rides to be found. Star Tours is Star Wars, which is also not Disney... I love that they are there though!

And welcome to DC!!!

There is an Indy ride in DLP, but it is nothing like the DLR version. It is actually a roller coaster and you go backwards!

I don't know why it is at Disney either, but I'm sure happy it is, Indy is one of my favorites!

Re: Indiana Jones

Both Star Tours/Star Wars and Indiana Jones are owned by George Lucas (Nerd Alert). I don't remember who contacted who, but George said that besides himself there was nobody else that could make his creations magical like Disney could.

Re: Indiana Jones

Disney has an ownership with George Lucas Productions and after seeing how succesful Star Tours was they decided to bring in a new ride involving the famous Indiana Jones, So in 2000 as part of Disneyland's 45th Anniversary Disney and George Lucas came up with the idea of Indiana Jones Adventure ride. So thats pretty much about it, lol. And welcome to DC!

Lol, 2000? Indiana Jones opened in 1995 to celebrate the 40th
But yeah, George Lucas got together with Walt Disney Imagineering I think, and they created both Star Tours and Indiana Jones.
I found some pictures of construction of Indiana Jones the other day that were very interesting. If anyone wants to see them tell me.

Ooh...can you post them? I would love to see them! I rode shortly after it opened and got one of those little decoder cards that they used to give out. It was to decode the symbols on the walls while you waited in line for three hours! I think I still have it around somewhere...

Re: Indiana Jones

Here they are, http://www.micechat.com/forums/showthread.php?t=23189, scroll down just a little bit and wait for them to all load. It's pretty amazing that they turned that big steal structure into a very realistic temple on the inside! And I remember those decoder cards, my friend brought me one home after he went the year it opened. I wish I still had it!

I remember those!! They were really fun and really made the wait go quickly. I wonder where mine is, gosh was that really 10 years ago?

And thanks for the pictures those are very cool!

Re: Indiana Jones

Because Indiana Jones is a HOTTIE, that's why!!

I don't know the answer, but I have heard the George Lucas thing. I just didn't know he owned Indi too! Very interesting...

ps. About the decoder cards - I went to DL in 2003 for the first time. I went on the Indi ride like 5 times.. it was my favorite! (perhaps because Indi was in it..? ) I was trying to decode the walls myself, but I was coming up with some pretty random messages!

Re: Indiana Jones

Yup, there are many non-Disney things at Disneyland. Like Autopia from Chevron, Star Tours, and a lot of the restaraunts are sponsored by McDonald's and stuff. I think this is because the companies saw Disneyland as a really good advertising/moneymaking space and so they bought shares. As for Indiana Jones... well, of course he's there! Disneyland just wouldn't be the same without him. I agree with DJ Snow. Admire the Indy...
