Birthday celebration

Okay, I booked our last-minute DLR trip the other day. Now I have a question and want opinions. My DH's birthday will be while we are there. He is not a Disney freak, but does like Disney. This is a VERY budget-minded trip. We will be doing most of our meals out of a cooler, but will splurge a little. I got the information for Birthday celebrations from Disney, and the prices aren't that bad. If it was DS's b-day, I wouldn't hesitate at all, but since DH is not as Disney obsessed, I'm not sure. He would enjoy it, but I'm not sure it's worth it, after all I could just buy him a cake somewhere. For $10 a person (that's on $30, since there's only 3 of us!) we could party with Mickey/Minnie and "Pat E. Cake". Should I do it?

Hmm, if hes not Disney/Disneyland crazy like the rest of us I wouldnt, I would just go to a nice dinner somewhere in the parks or in Downtown Disney instead....but this is just my opinion.

Re: Birthday celebration

Well, I couldn't decide whether to go somewhere else and forget the Disney birthday, surprise him or tell him about it and let him decide. DS and I were out of town for 2 weeks while we booked the trip (lots of phone calls) and so while we spent our first day back in town as a family I decided to tell him about it and let him decide. Money is a SERIOUS consideration right now, but given that the prices were WAY more reasonable than we thought they'd be...he may decide on the party with Mickey & Minnie! He's a Disney fan deep down, he just doesn't want to admit it!

Re: Birthday celebration

I think it would be better if you go to a nice restaurant, like the Blue Bayou or something for dinner. The Minnie & Mickey shindig is really more for little kids, and I don't know if it'd be too fun for anyone over the age of 10. :P

Well Blue Bayou will be closed for you guys...so maybe you could check out a DtD place. Catal is really nice, but kind of pricey. So maybe the best idea would be to let him choose what he wants on his birthday!

Re: Birthday celebration

We got the sticker and I had bought a Mickey Birthday pin which he wore. We ended up not doing the birthday celebration, but he did enjoy everyone wishing him a Happy Birthday while we were at the parks!
