Interesting Pirates re-opening rumors!

This is all pure speculation, but take what you will from it.

Matt Ouimet (president of the Disneyland Resort) was recently quoted in a cast member publication as saying Pirates will re-open with characters "more lifelike than you could ever imagine!"

About the same time this publication was released, the Disneyland entertainment department held auditions for "Jack Sparrow" and a "band of pirates." The interesting thing about these auditions is that the participants were required to be members of the Screen Actors Guild...and a large part of the auditions was making sure the pirates could sing "Yo Ho" VERY well. They were also very particular in choosing their Jack Sparrow.

How does this all fit together? Well it was just an interesting time for Matt Ouimet to comment about the characters being "more lifelike than you could ever imagine"...and them suddenly holding auditions for Jack Sparrow and a band of pirates.

And in other Pirates news, there is now water in the canals again!

No more drained, depressing emptiness! Hooray, the re-opening is only weeks away!

Wouldn't that be cool if they had real pirates!?!? I would love that! I am sooooo excited that I'll be there the day the DL PotC re-opens! The countdown is on! 30 days!

Disneyland is going to be bringing a live POTC show to NOS when the ride re-opens, thats why they have been having live people auditions and such.

Interesting! Maybe Walt's animatronics won't be used in POC anymore. That would be sad, but wouldn't it be cool to be able to purchase one of them?! That would be a REALLY cool piece of Disneyana!

Hmmmm....wonder where that show will be. New Orleans Square is quite cramped. Maybe that is where they will simply "pillage and plunder." Guess time will tell.

When we were at WDW a couple of weeks ago... I saw no evidence of them revamping POC there... I was hoping they would revamp it too...

Sounds so cool! My Disneyland Trip in t-minus 30 days has now become a quest to ride the "new" Pirates and eat at BB!! The past week I have been OBSESSED with Pirates, hehe. Last night I even re-watched the movie b/c I haven't seen it since it was in the theaters.

"Yo Ho, Yo Ho, A pirate's life for me. We pilage, we plunder, we rifle, we loot drink up me hearties yo ho..."

It is undergoing a rehab at the moment. Its due to reopen in July I believe, just before we arrive. The 7th of July rings a bell..I could be wrong on the date.

So would I! My DH knows I would leave him for Cap'n Jack...or just Johnny

And I saw the trailer for the movie on tv the other night!

I don't think there's really anything going on besides pure coincidence...but you never know! I thought I would just post that info and see what others thought. It's a fun idea! I'm sure they will never ever replace Walt's audioanimatronics, but to add some "live" surprises would be super neat. SUPER neat.

Oh and KittieKChick, my hubby knows I would leave him for Johnny too!

At least it's an unspoken agreement.

Oh man, would that be cool!!! It would also be cool if there were some pillagin' pirates wandering around New Orleans Square. Either way, I'm soooo excited for POTC to re-open! :D

They are planning on doing some type of pirate show in NOS this summer and there have also been rumors of pirates possibly hijacking the Columbia several times a day as a show. They are currently building a stage in NOS, which I've seen some pictures of, and that is supposed to be where the pirate show is held. I guess we'll see what happens in one looooong month!
