tomorrow land transit

I was wondering what is going to happen to the old transit ride at disneyland. Are they going to be reopening it or just leaving it unused. Thanks.

Re: tomorrow land transit

It's called the people mover at disneyland ;) haha. I've heard TDA plans on doing something with the track as soon as the 50th is over. I doubt they'd let the track go to a copmlete waste, it WILL get used eventually. I have faith. Haha. But as of now, there hasn't been any plans released publicly.

Re: tomorrow land transit

The People Mover closed in 1995. In '98, Disneyland replaced it with Rocket Rods which ran on the same track. They were a high speed car that went around the track in about three minutes (the People Mover took 18 minutes).

The Rocket Rods only lasted about two years. They broke down all the time. I remember visiting a few months after they opened and there were already problems. They also sooo weren't worth the 2 hours we waited in line!

The track is still there, so maybe someday they will bring back the People Mover. *crosses fingers*

I do to. After a busy day, when your feets are tired, sometimes the slow rides are NICE...

Since they closed the skyway, the only slow ride where you can people watch is the Railroad.

Re: tomorrow land transit

The good news is, there are definitely plans to utilize the track. The BEST news is that it's 99% sure the track will be used to bring the People Mover back!

Disney maintenance has been inspecting the track and checking for what repairs it may need, so they're definitely planning on doing something with it. And there's been enough complaint about the People Mover being missing that I think they've taken it all into consideration.

Really?! That's SO awesome! I don't know if I was around when the People Mover was, and if I was I was probably waaaay too young to remember, but from what I hear/see it was really great. I remember the Rocket Rods being laaaame. Even I, at 6 years old, thought it was a bore. It's better to use the track for something useful- and I'm sure with all the great stuff they do now at the park it won't be breaking down anytime soon.

I have been told by CM's they have heard once the new Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage opens in '07 TDA (Team Disney Anaheim) plans to start really re-designing the new People Mover and that sort, now lets just see if it happens
