Does anyone know if there is talk about redoing the Autopia ride in the Pixar 'Cars' Theme? I think it would be cool to see a backwards tow truck 'Mater' on the track.

It would be a strong tie-in to the film, but if people started insisting on getting their favorite car (like Mator), it could cause even more of a bottle neck for this slow loading attraction.

Unfortunately I don't think that could ever happen. Autopia is unlikely to change much...it's still *supposed* to be getting its hydroelectric cars (like Hong Kong Disneyland) but the plans keep falling through. It's a matter of sponsorship.

Autopia is an extremely expensive attraction to run, and it depends heavily (if not 100%) on its sponsorship. At the moment, Chevron is the best bid they've got, and they have to keep things EXACTLY the way Chevron wants them. Which, of course, is why they aren't getting electric cars yet. LOL somehow that doesn't fit with the whole Chevron idea!

MsMouse makes an excellent point. As petty as it sounds, having such dynamic characters for each car could make grouping/loading nearly impossible. It's Disney's policy to accommodate every guest's request. Which is already enough of a pain when people ask for "a pink car" or "not an ugly one." Heaven forbid if they specifically requested Mater or Lightning McQueen!

I know that all sounds like no-fun reasons to not make them into the Pixar cars, but...who knows? Maybe something will change!
