Year of a Million Dreams

So about this new "Year of a Million Dreams" spiel thing going on starting in October....I was reading about one thing the Magic Kingdom is offering, a nights stay inside the penthouse suite in Cinderella Castle and then I was reading where we here at DLR are offering a nights stay - the Disneyland Hotel. I was thinking how cool it would have been if Disney would have made it to where the lucky family would have gotten the chance at an over night stay be in Walt's Appt. in Disneyland, now that would have granted some real dreams...not just some nights stay at the DL Hotel where anyone family can/could stay....
I just wanted to hear everyone elses opinions and thoughts....thanks.

I agree AB, that would've been a true dream come true. I guess that apartment is still untouchable.

Re: Year of a Million Dreams

I don't know about someone staying in Walt's apartment. I mean, what if the person that won wasn't very respectful? I like the thought of it, but in reality I think it's off limits. What about a yurt on Tom Sawyer Island? I am kidding, lol.

Personally, I think it would creep me out to be in the park alone at night, even though technically you wouldn't be alone. I used to dream of it as a kid, but now...no way--unless I had some open attractions and all the churros and coffee I wanted, but if I had to go to bed I'd never sleep. The bragging rights would be great, lol, but I don't think I'd want to sleep in the park.

Re: Year of a Million Dreams

I'm kind of glad no one is getting to stay in Walt's apartment. Honestly!

I mean, of course it would be great if it were a MouseBuzzer, but the thought of anyone else...y'know, it's one of those weird (almost sacreligious) things. It seems so wrong for anyone to go in there! I hate the thought of the tours even going through there. It's such a special place, I like to think that's it's going to remain untouched forever.

That's just me.

And I agree with daisy...I can't imagine spending the night in the park! I've been there after closing...a lot...and there's a point where it's not "magical" anymore...it's kind of scary. LOL!

haha, ok so I get all of your points you all made well...it was just an idea, haha. But as for being alone in the park at night..it wouldnt be so bad, you would be on Main Street and the music on Main Street never shuts off....so there would be some magical music going on, and I personaly think it would be cool to see what goes on around the park after hours (seeing it live) ... not just stories and such...but I just mainly wanted to see what you all had to think. But no worries, cause it aint happenin in real life anyway, haha.

One of my Disney friends from another website has been working on wrangling himself an overnight stay in the MK for a couple of years now.

Of course, he's now hoping he can win it!

Yeah the music doesn't shut off, but when all the attractions aren't making any noise anymore, and there are no people around......it gets reeeeeally quiet around there. *shudders*

I walked out on stage once to find DH when he was working after hours (back when he worked in Main Street stores)...the park had been closed for about 2 hours. It was deserted and creepy...I just wanted to get outta there!!

Re: Year of a Million Dreams

I would take pictures all night and video record everything in the apartment. It would be impossible to sleep. I would walk throughout the park all night and crash in the morning at my regular hotel room.

I'm talking like 3-4 AM. And it wasn't like this all days, just that one particular day. Usually there's at least one truck parked out on Main St or something, or SOMETHING going on....but I still wouldn't want to spend the night in the park.

Re: Year of a Million Dreams

P.S. I've been there on a night when the music DID shut off. (They were testing fireworks for a private party, so they needed to use the fireworks music track.) During the time it took for the fireworks music to come on, I sat there in a panic......Main Street with the music off is just WRONG!

Be honest everyone... if you DID stay in Walt's apartment, tell me: Would you open the medicine cabinet to see what's inside? LOL
