DL Propert sold out 10/1/2006

I made my reservations for my upcoming trip 10/1-10/4. I did so in August since my pals here at mousebuzz encouraged me not to wait. I called DL to try an switch our hotel from the DL to the Grand Californian. As of today, all 3 DL properties are sold out. I was hoping that the park wouldn't be too crowded, but now I am getting concerned.

I do have my confirmed reservations for the DL which is cool. Too bad that the monorail is out of service.

Oh, well back to my obsessive countdown!

Robin

Wow, what's going on in early October there? Is that when they have their version of the Food & Wine Festival?

I think it's because it's the last week of the 50th celebration.

WOW! I thought the Year of a Million Dreams begins that week, too.

It may go without saying, but get there E A R L Y The upside to dealing with the crowd is that it shouldn't be super hot. October is BEAUTIFUL and you should have wonderful weather :)

I know it's got to be sort of discouraging, but maybe there is a large convention, or lots of weddings booked. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you

That makes total sense. I wasn't sure what they were doing that week either. Do they run on a value season then like WDW does? I wonder if WDW will be that crowded for the final week of the 50th.

Re: DL Propert sold out 10/1/2006

I wouldn't worry too much. I've had several experiences where I've thought that I'd just check on the DLR room situation, found it sold out, and the parks have still been very manageable.

Keep in mind that there aren't all that many "Disney" rooms available to begin with there, certainly not compared to WDW.

Now... if all of the surrounding hotels are also booked solid... then you can worry!

I was planning to be in Disneyland that week.

I haven't even started booking my rooms yet!

Maybe I ought to start doing that!

Hey, 626, if there are no rooms available, maybe they'll let you sleep in the kitchen at Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen!!!

But seriously, get those rooms booked NOW, counselor!

Most likely not that, the 50th officially ends like Sept 30th and the resort has already begun taking down all the decor and stuff (the picture murals, surrounding decor, re-painting over the 50th stuff etc) I think its crowded due to the starting of the X-Mas season which usually begins in October....

Re: DL Propert sold out 10/1/2006

No worries Robin! We have been to DL several times when all the Disney hotels were completely booked...sometimes it can be school trips or conventions, but either one doesn't have a huge affect on the parks. Most of the school trips only have limited time to spend in the parks, so you'll see them briefly off and on but that's it. And a lot of convention-goers who stay at the Disney resorts don't even go to the parks at all! (I know, the horror of that thought!!)

I'm sure you guys will have a wonderful time! It is BEAUTIFUL that time of year, you're going to have a blast!
