Re: Midway Mania Construction Update!

Oh, that's TOTALLY not where I pictured it going. I thought it would have to be in a bigger area, like knock down Mulholland Madness and put it there. Exciting!

oh no no no. Knocking down Mullholland Madness and the other cheap surrounding rides in that area are the space for a new dark like ride Disney has stated it has planned for DCA.
Midway Mania is the ride that willl set the scene for the 1920's victorian era of the boardwalk. (I heard -just a rumor as of right now because no one really knows- that the buildings by Ariels Grotto are what they want all of the new Paradise Pier buildings to look like - that victorian style...it will look amazing) The structure u saw isnt all of what is going to be built, more is to come. You should also see the show building behind Screamin' - its HUGE! And the midway games and stuff are supposed to close this summer too to make way for the continuation of the paradise pier work. And the lagoon will be drained and blocked off in January or so and the areas around it to start work for the new Nighttime sepectacular - Wonderful World of Color - I cant wait to see everything that is in store as it really starts to all take place.

When the drain and put walls around the lagoon around jan '08 they will start the process of getting ride of some of the junkie rides and moving other water front rides and they are going to be building a whole new seating arrangment around the lagoon like they had to do over at DL when Fantasmic! debuted. Its gonna be great!

This is what I talked over with some CM's just this weekend. The Orange Stinger is going away and the Golden Zepher is being moved to its spot (the Golden Zepher is being kept because it keeps the feel of the 1920's era boardwalk they are going for). Jumpin Jellyfish is supposed to go away along with all the junkie stuff around it. Mullholland Madness and those surrounding things are going to be gotten rid of too. The Games of the Boardwalk and the shops around it are going to be closed off starting in June or so they have planned so the future of those are unknown, only TDA knows as of right now. But that is what I have heard. Paradise Pier is phase one of a 6 phase project for DCA, so the other lands are still being worked on. And new rides are planned to be coming into Paradise Pier in place of all the junkie cheap ones but what rides have yet to be announced.

HMMMM!! This is really exciting because considering my love/hate relationship with DCA I may just have to reconsider my "bah humbug" attitude for the "Boardwalk" area. Sounds like exciting things are to come in the future. Woohoo.
