Thanks lims! I told my mom last night "well, we're still just in the thinking stage, right" and she went all "No! We're going!! " Tis why I love her.

Re: First trip to Disneyland?!

I just started reviewing this thread again... I'll be at DL in 23 days!!!

I'm also bumping this to get a few more tips or...whatever.

Some of you might already know the trip was moved to July 31-August 3. That gives me and my parents Friday and/or Saturday to do Disney. We are also NOT doing DCA. Let's review to make sure I've got it right...

- weekend = bad
- middle of sumer = bad
- kids still out of school = bad

Haha, my odds look pretty bad, huh? Any advice on how to manage the parks when crowds are at their peaks? (My parents are 60 yrs old; one thinks he's a jock and begs me like a 5yr old to go on coasters, and the other still gets hot flashes and thrives on afternoon power naps, typically in the hall of presidents...help me out here. )

I've heard its impossible to do even half of DL in one full day. Is this true? I could do two days at DL but my mom, not so sure. And she's not ready to sit in a wheelchair/scooter.

Also, I've collected a hefty amount of restaurants from this thread alone! If each of you could pick only one, which would it be? (My father likes to spend money, so he likes fancier restaurants, but I am training him to be more frugal...comments?) I'm thinkin we'll do two or three... If you all pick different ones, I'm gonna kill you.

-Bengal BBQ
-Carnation Cafe
-Hook's Point
-Blue Bayou
-Goofy's Kitchen
-Jazz Kitchen

Someone in here earlier mentioned a Pinnocchio ride...but I couldn't tell if they were telling me to skip it or see it. I'm a sucker for Pin but when you think about it, that movie (especially the true book) is so terribly trippy.

Is there a movie theatre in DTD?? Or just in the area? I was suddenly inspired to take my folks to see Wall-E on that first Thursday night, cause they still haven't seen it! It would be a wonderful addition to the trip.

Thanks in advance, wow I'm desperate.

I would make sure you check the disneyland website for the dates you go, after labor day they will be taking rides down for refurbishment.

Re: First trip to Disneyland?!

It will be HOT as the other poster mentioned.
If you're going during the week it may be ok.
We're in Northern Cal and the schools around here will be in session, so maybe you'll lonly have to worry about the So Cal schools?

Our favorite restaurants:
Yamabuki
Goofy's Kitchen
Plaza Inn
Carnation Cafe
Rainforest Cafe

Have Fun!

Re: First trip to Disneyland?!

I see from your trip dates that you are already enjoying your trip. I hope that seeing the gates of DCA has enticed you to "come on in." DCA has some really great stuff that you don't want to miss! Grizzly River Rapids is awesome! California Screamin is fun and the feel of the park is wonderful - very California (for those of us that do NOT live in the big cities, that is!) Pacific Wharf and GRR area are very reminiscent of the areas they represent. Disney Detailing is great - now that does not translate to the ENTIRE park, however. The little bit of Victorian front rowhouses there by the bathrooms by GRR is a waste - nothing in them! I don't know why they bothered - they could have continued the woodsy theme - oh well, that portion is on the revamp list anyway!

Hope you are having a wonderful trip!
