Icon10 First trip to Disneyland

Hi there,

My husband and I are going to Disneyland this July and it will be my first time there. We have been to WDW loads of times, but I have never been to the California parks.

We know it's going to be blistering hot there and the crowds will probably be huge. Does anyone have any advice as to which day we should go for the smaller crowds (if that is even possible!)? We'll be in California from Saturday-Tuesday and were thinking of going either Sunday or Monday.

Thanks in advance!

Re: First trip to Disneyland

Hi mickeyrules, welcome to MB!

Disneyland is wonderful...you will have such a great time!

If you've ever been to WDW during the summer, don't worry, because Disneyland won't feel quite as blistering. It's not as humid there...especially if you get a lucky burst of those Santa Ana Winds!

Will you be going to both Disneyland and California Adventure, or just one park? I would certainly recommend a weekday if at all possible, because DL has a lot of local residents who love to visit frequently. (I should know, I used to be one of them and I was there waaaay too much! ) You won't be able to avoid the crowds as much when it's summer and school's out, but a weekday is still a better bet than the weekend.

Tell us some more about your plans!

Re: First trip to Disneyland

Sunday morning is a great time. When we were living out there a few years ago we went every Sunday morning. We were in and out before the crowd got to big. With California adventure now there I suggest Sunday and monday for the two parks.

I would go for a weekday, not that it really matters that much. July will be crowded. But the weekdays are a bit less full.. I would suggest Monday and Tuesday if you can get away with it. But Sunday and Monday would be good too. People are leaving/arriving on Sunday, so the park isn't as packed as it normally would be.

You will have fun though!

Re: First trip to Disneyland

We found Saturday to be the MOST crowded during our stay. As a matter of fact, our whole stay was jammed packed. We also found Disneyland to be more crowded than California Adventure.. not sure why though.

Re: First trip to Disneyland

Thanks for all the advice! I'm not sure if we are planning to go to both parks or just one. I'd love to do both, but with just a few days in California and a few people we are visiting, we might not get to do both. At this point, we'll aim for Sunday-Monday if we do both and see what the weather is like as well! Our trip is really just to visit family and friends, but I had to squeeze in Disney somehow!

Thanks again!

Re: First trip to Disneyland

It's been several years since I was at DL, but that's where my husband and I fell in love with the Disney magic! We were there from park opening to park closing, and knew we had to go back!

Welcome to MouseBuzz! You're going to love it here!

Re: First trip to Disneyland

Thanks for all the welcomes! I've actually been around a long time but I never post. I learned a lot from everyone else though. I'll definitely post a trip report when we get back!
