Sure you don't mean "a bad person" but a child with bad behavior, right? We all make mistakes and she suffered for it.

anyway...sorry to ramble, but that is what this topic made me think of.
Actually, this is the exact reason I posted this. In the days of economic downturn where the dollar has tanked so badly I'll be paying to fly coach on Air New Zealand the exact amount two years ago that I paid to fly Business Class, the temptation is there for everyone to hedge their statements to save a few bucks.

In the end, it does more harm than good, whether you get caught or not. Your children know. And these little life lessons are what hopefully molds them into productive citizens when they grow up.

Well, if they grow up. Some of us suffer from arrested development

Thank you , this is a much better way of saying it. There are no bad children (15 is still a child), there are however bad parents and care givers. I hope she doesn't continue to let this man's ugly words get her down .

Um, actually the CM was a woman.. And I suspect she really meant bad behavior as opposed to the 15 year old actually being a bad person..

WEll that is interesting....the passholder is going to lose out too, but they could say that it was stolen...can't control that now can you? 15 is old enough to know not to use another person's pass and "bad person" isn't that nice, but it could have been worse.

Man or Woman...it doesn't matter. She called her a bad person. That was wrong. If she ment the bad behavior she should have said so. We can assume her meaning all we like, the fact is she said, "You're a bad person". In my opinion SHE'S the one that is a bad person for being so harsh to not only another person but a child. Yes the girl was wrong for using the pass, but that in no way excuses the CM from being rude. She did her job is taking the pass away. Unless Disney was going to press charges, that is where their interaction should have stopped. Her parting words were unnecessary and hurtful. Just like you can suspect that she ment "bad behavior" one can also suspect that she was tired from being in the heat and used this oppertunity to take our her frustration on someone else.

Well said. I don't think Disney management would have approved of the editorial comments. They are not characteristic of my experiences with Disney.

I agree with this. 15 is old enough to know it was wrong. The passholder knew it was wrong and to say it was stolen would be telling another lie. Maybe not a 'bad person' but bad behavior and if the girl feels bad and bummed out, she should.

Re: My intern's sister just got ejected from Disneyland....

Dont look at me- we tried it too.... and it did not work...
My thinking was that since we were not bringing Ed with us that bringing my cousin with us was no different than if I did bring ed- if they were individual one day passes it would have made no difference either. If I had taken a pass and then left the park and tried it again to get someone else in then that I would have issues with. But to call a child a "bad person" even in a sarcastic jest is just a little over the top. Then again Im sure that this kid wont try and do anything like that again due to the sheer fear of embarassment again...

As for replacing the pass....Ed just went and showed his ID at guest services and got a new one...it was not a big deal.

I completely disagree with some of your statements. Psychologists say by age twelve a person has set the "moral compass" of their life and, in some cases, only a strong intervention will change it.

(Of course, I don't know this girl, and I don't presume she is a "bad person.")

Also, we have no idea of the context of "bad person." The girl may have reinterpreted the statements made to her.

I once caught 2 girls shoplifters in the clothing store I worked at in college. The younger girl was 12. The older was 16 and commented that this was not going to look good to her probation officer. That's when I lit into the two of them about how they were throwing away there lives and that if the older didn't make some decisions about what kind of person she wanted to be, she's going to ruin her friend's life as well.

I think a 15 year old girl, made to feel humiliated and bad about herself for a comment made, is a small price to pay for opening her eyes to making right decisions.

There is only one context when you call a child a bad person (quite different from calling their behavior bad or inappropriate) and while a bit of humiliation arising from a situation teaches us something, active humiliation of a child by an adult only shows the adult is behaving more like a child.

It seems two mistakes were made in the confrontation (one by a child learning a lesson and one by an adult who should already know).

Do any of us parents call our children 'bad persons'? My last (hopefully humble) word on this.

DID the CM call her that, or did she interpret it that way? DID the adult "actively humiliate" or did this young adult feel humiliated? Big differences.

We've become this society where we turn the perpetrator into the victim. "The big, bad lady hurt my feelings, while I was stealing a $75 entry fee into DL! Poor me!

I don't know this girl. I can't say what kind of person she is. But if an unkind word makes her rethink her actions, then good. If she claims to have been wronged, well, we can add another victim to society.

Re: My intern's sister just got ejected from Disneyland....

The quote from the CM was "You're a bad person". The end. There is no need to assume she ment anything else by it. We can throw any opinion we want on this by what we "think" the CM was implying, but when it's all said and done, the words were the same.

Was the girls wrong in using a pass that was not hers, yes. The CM however was just as wrong in taking it upon herself to go over and above her duties by verbally attacking this girl. I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that it's not in the job discription of CMs to teach life lessons to customers...paying or not.

Two wrongs don't make a right.

Also gingles I completely agree with you. I have not and never will call my children "bad", no matter how much I dislike what they're doing.

I think it's very sad if an adult feels the need to resort to name calling in order to get their point across. How can we expect children and young adults to grow up to be caring and productive people when we tear them down with our words.

IMHO, the girl got off easy . . . if you walked into a store and stole say $65 worth of merchandise and were caught, you wouldn't be told you were "bad" and then give the stuff back and walk away! The authorities would be called, and you'd end up with a record (if the store owner decided to press charges)

I know I posted earlier that the CM shouldn't have called her a "bad person" but really if that and the pass being taken away is all she got . . .she should count herself lucky!

Because TECHNICALLY she was stealing and committing fraud by try to pass herself off as someone else . . . right?

I agree that she got off easy. Too easy honestly. I think she should have been taken aside and made to speak with a manager. It would then have been up to the person in charge to decide what should be done with her. The CM over stepped the lines of her job when she decised to hand out discipline on her own.
