Re: Astro Orbitor closing

I see conflicting reports. Is the Astro Orbitor being taken down for good? Or put back up where it originally was?

Any reliable info about the people mover track? It seems like there are always rumors about the people mover coming back. I've been hearing that for years. I hope it does come back though. I never went on it at Disneyland. But I love it at WDW.

The Astro Orbitor will be returning, but not as it is now, the Imagineers are re-designing a brand new layout for the attraction that will operate much more effectively, it will return to its position where it used to be, up on top of the loading station for the People Mover....where that "space junk" currently sits . The People Mover will be returning as well, just not as it used to be (it wont have -or so has been said- fully open top cars - due to new regulations, or so I was told by a fellow CM). The Tomorrowland re-make wont be fully started until around 2011, it will be headed and overseen/designed by Tony Baxter.

Wow that is great news! So will the People Mover still BE the People Mover when it is done? or a totally different type of attraction? If the re-make starts around 2011 is there a estimated completion date?

The new People Mover attraction has had many ideas sprawling as to what it will be in the end. Tony Baxter wants to keep the authenticity of tomorrowland and bring back what the people mover used to be, while marketing however is still wanting to turn the new people mover into a pod like attraction like you see in "The Incredibles" (the little white moving pods you see in the part of the movie that are on the island). And there is no actual set completion date, but form what I had heard, it was set to be done by 2013-2015 (It depends on financing, budget, etc. They have plans to get rid of HISTA, Innoventions and re-make Autopia as well).

That would be really cool. I hope all goes well for them on this project.
