first visit to disneyland

hey everyone. i recently went to california to visit family out there and made my first trip to disneyland!! my sister-in-law lives in corona, ca, which is about 30-40 minutes away from disneyland.

we had so much fun. i got to see sleeping beauty's castle, which i think is just as beautiful as cinderella's. we watched the movie star parade and the electric light parade. my niece sarah was picked my merlin to pull the sword out of the stone and was able to use all of her strenght :D to get it out. she became a lady. we rode on the carousel. we went on the california ride in california adventure. we also saw the aladdin musical show, which is outstanding. we pretty much toured around both parks because we were going back on monday for hayley's 5th birthday, my other niece.

for monday's visit, hayley and i went to autotopia, we went on the tea cups, we went to cinderella's story time in a gift shop, we went on a train, we met mickey, sleeping beauty, belle, mary poppins, and cinderella. we also met minnie and goofy. we went through toontown for a while and fantasyland. we also had a birthday party at the happiest birthday party at the plaza inn. mickey and minnie made a guest appearance.

overall, my first visit to disneyland was a blast. i would love to go back again one day. WDW is still in my heart, but i can make room for disneyland, especially since i made my first visit with my nieces.

Also quick little note. If you request the 9th floor you have a
beautiful view of the parks.

I'm glad you had such a good time at the park I "grew up" in.

And I second Caroline Boyle, Indiana Jones is GREAT!! My son can barely wait to ride it when we go in May.

Hey the reply I wrote on my favorite hotel didn't show up.

Fairfield Inn is great! It is a hop and a skip away from the DL front gates.( about 5 min.) Next to a MCDonalds , grab breakfast and head to the parks.$ 69.00 a night Request the 8th or 9th floor, great views.

Glad you had such a good time! We'll be making our first ever Disneyland trip in May. Anything to avoid? Or, on the other hand, what is there that is a must do that might not jump out at us?

well, ilvminnie, we didn't get to do a lot in disneyland during our visits there. we did see half of disneyland park on monday the 12th and we saw a little bit of california adventure on the 10th. so, it's going to be hard to tell you what to avoid due to lack of seeing everything.

as for what to recommend, i recommend checking out the following in california adventure: the aladdin musical show (kids will love it and sing along to all of the songs), the california ride (which is like a simulator ride that gives you a feeling like you're on a helicopter ride touring california) and the electric parade. it's hard to say which parade is better; electric parade or spectromagic. they are both outstanding but electric parade is a must see anyway!

disneyland park is sort of similar to disneyworld. some of the things that we saw and did during both visits there you can check out in disneyworld just the same. i will suggest meeting the princesses because they're out and about more in disneyland than they are in disneyworld. so, if you have a little girl who loves the princesses, you'll be able to run into cinderella, snow white, belle, ariel, and sleeping beauty around the castle.

have fun and don't forget to take pictures.

Just going to be Rafikiman & me this trip...our "little girl" is now 18 & won't be able to make this trip since she's now a cast member!! But I have no objections to being young enough to get MY picture taken with them. As a matter of fact, in Oct Rafikiman had his picture taken with Meg...you should have seen the grin on his face!!!:laugh
