Tower of Terror - Here's the Scoop
Went on our AP preview ride today.
Limited horizontal movement. Story is obviously the same as WDW Tower. However, most of the effects story unfolds in front of you while you sit still. Not as interesting, I thought. Cool effect with a mirror where you "say goodbe" to yourself and you turn into a ghost. That was interesting (in thinking about how you would use the technology to do it) but I'm not convinced that it was really us, as I looked nothing like me. Don't know. Still thinking about it. Up and down was fun as expected. All in all, the same actual "ride,' but I think having cheaped out a little bit in order to put more elevators in. I counted at least four, and I thought five. This would seem pretty consistent with other rides in my opinion. Done best the first time and done cheaper but supporting more people at the second park. (Just my opinion).

Re: Tower of Terror - Here's the Scoop
Well actually there is only 3 elevators (that i know of)....as you know there arent as many because of the room limitation and they are saving the parking area behind the TOT for expansion...but originally the design for the TOT wasnt even supposed to be for the DLR...it was meant for DLP but because of miney issues they couldnt have it built so they decided to use that design for DCA figuring not to waste the good design and re-designing a whole new one, and they knew it would help bost the parks population....but in all it is still a VERY good ride less elevators or not and it wasnt done cheaper...it was meant to have more of a California mission style look (after a few changes to the plans) but thats the way it was supposed to look....I think its perfectly fine just the way it is...it gives it its own special unique look just like the on at WDW...........:-)

Re: Tower of Terror - Here's the Scoop
I could certainly be wrong as I was looking for hidden mickeys and cool trivia. I saw a pattern of what keys were hanging out of the boxes. (am I nuts or what)
However, it looked like 2 elevators downstairs and 2 elevators upstairs at least. Not likely that I will talk my wife into standing in line for another ride - though we'll probably go on TOT sometime next week when we are at WDW - we leave here Firday morning to go to LAX. Heh. Heh.

Re: Tower of Terror - Here's the Scoop
that may be right but im just judging from the front elevator doors that open up for u to scream out of only 3 r shown (of what i can see)....the other may be a over flow elevator or a service elevator (4th) but i could be wrong ;-) oh and have a great time at WDW!

Re: Tower of Terror - Here's the Scoop
I was just asking my wife how many she thought there were. It's kind of weird. Lots of lines that split into separate holding areas on two levels.
I don't remember that at WDW. Anyhoo... I look forward to reading here what everyone else thinks about the ride after May 5th.

Re: Tower of Terror - Here's the Scoop
I was informed that this Tower was supposed to have 3 elevators. However, I did hear 4 somewhere else...LOL. I will stick with 3, though, just based on looking at the Tower. That's how many I would guesstimate.
So ANYWAYZ...I am COMPLETELY jealous of you two!! I may sound like a whiny little brat, but as I have mentioned before, I am totally obsessed with everything that is the Tower of Terror...and the fact that you two have already been on the DL version before me makes me want to cry! Hehe. No hard feelings! Only a little over 11 days to go for me! ![]() We'll have to see what my review is of this ride...after having been on the WDW version maaaaaany times (once I rode it 24 times in only 4 days, one of those days was 9 times IN A ROW, LOL. Call me nuts!) I am definitely a critic. I live and breathe this ride. I don't think Disney has ever made something so beautifully themed and planned out. So we'll see what my poor critical little brain has to say a few weeks from now...

Re: Tower of Terror - Here's the Scoop
I think if you have to decide, you will like WDW version better.

Re: Tower of Terror - Here's the Scoop
Yea I was pretty sure there was only 3 actuall riding elevators (looking at the doors on the outside that open when u hit the top and where u get a view of the park) there might be 4 elevators but I think the 4th might be an actual ture service elevator..lol.....and the only reason I got to ride it is because Im a AP holder and I got to ride it with my aunt when she rode it in the cast member preview (shes worked there since 1959) It is a truly great ride just as good as the one in WDW ;-) U'll luv it! :-)

Re: Tower of Terror - Here's the Scoop
Well, having not yet ridden the DLR version, I can say that I already love it simply because it's 2000 miles closer to my home than the WDW version! LOL!

Re: Tower of Terror - Here's the Scoop
Spoke with a CM today and they told me 6 elevators alternating in 3 shafts. That explains the two levels I saw and why some of us went upstairs while others were downstairs.
My daughter (who turned 2 today at DL) loved watching the doors open at the top, and all the people screaming. Her giggle was not unlike when we watch people coming down Splash Mountain. These fun two days have me all excited about our flight to WDW tomorrow. ![]()

Re: Tower of Terror - Here's the Scoop
Gosh, you are so lucky! Spending your DD's birthday at DL, and then flying off the next day to WDW!!!! The rest of us can only dream of something like that...
