Checking In

I know that check in time for DVC resorts are something like 4:00. We have never stayed at a DVC resort yet.

In the past we have been lucky enough sometimes when staying at a regular Disney resort to be able to check in at 8:00 in the morning. Is this also possible (if we get lucky) at the DVC resorts? Or does this really not happen? I am trying to figure out if we should bother to try and check in prior to hitting Blizzard Beach on our 1st day at WDW.

I would check in as early as possible. You should get your DVC room if it is ready just like any other room. If it isn't ready you still get checked in and all you have to do later is call and get your room number since you will already have your room keys.

We stayed our first night at Pop Century (a Saturday night...so we stayed at PC to save our points!). We arranged for bell services to transfer our bags over to OKW the next morning. My hubby went over to OKW and checked in around 8:00 that morning and we didn't get back to the room until 11:30pm. When we got there...our bags were not there! They were waiting for us to call them to let them know we were in our room and they immediately delivered the bags to our room (within 10 minutes!)

Just have a bag ready for BB and then have the front desk hold the rest of your luggage. By the time you get back, your key will be activated and you can call them and have them bring your bags to your room.

A few people have suggested exactly what you did, BDavis932. I am starting to think that this is the best way to play our 10:00PM plane arrival provided I can get a reasonable rate at Pop Centuury and a semi-reasonable rate for 11 days on a mini-van. We may even just hang at Pop Century for the day since we have never been there and then go to Downtown Disney and play in the fountains.

We do this all the time. In the past we simply left our bags in the room (with tip) and bell services would pick them up and transfer them to our new resort. However, this year (at both the BCV and Boardwalk Villas, we were obliged to wait in our room until the bags were picked up. We asked why they changed this policy and no one could really give us an answer, so plan accordingly. This added about an hour's wait to our schedule. As for when you get into your room. I think it's the luck of the draw. We've checked in at 8 a.m. and gotten our suite right away, and have checked in at 4 p.m. and have had to wait.

On our last trip, we did the same thing as BDavis, stayed at Pop on Saturday night (plane arrived around 11 PM), and moved over to Beach Club Villas. We were lucky, our room was ready at about 9 AM when we showed up, so we moved our luggage in and hit EPCOT.

Make sure you have them note on your reseravation that you will be arriving early.

You don't have to hit DTD to play in the fountains. There is a fountain set up at Pop Century with Goofy. It is very cute!
