Vero Beach Resort and Frances' impact

Does anyone know how Vero Beach Resort fared from Frances? It is right smack on the beach and Vero Beach was right there at landfall. Am anxious to know as we are planning on making reservations.

I am in a similar situation. I have a reservation for the first week in October. I plan on calling member services and the resort today. I will let you know what I find out.

I've just been informed by DVC that Vero is closed until at least the end of September. Further, they not accepting reservations before 10/16/04. Supposedly they have phoned anyone who had reservations during this downtime.

I asked them why they wouldn't put this information out on their website and the only answer they could come up with was it was not a hight priority since they are so busy cancelling and re-confirming reservations....sometimes I wonder about the Mouse....

Really? the end of September?? I had heard it was September 10th!! What a bummer there must have been more damage than they thought!!!

Sorry, I forgot to post the follow up. I had to move my reservation from Vero Beach to WDW Villas at Wilderness Lodge. We had planned 3.5 days at each resort. I spoke to my DVC guide about the fact that I did not receive a phone call and am drafting a letter to DVC management.

Apparently, the resort received very minimal damage and there are no issues with structural integrity. However, I am told that there is substantial damage to the beach and access to the surrounding areas is a problem. This explains why no check in's will be scheduled until October 17th. If you have an existing reservation, I encourage you to contact member services as soon as possible. They will work with you to find other accomodations at another DVC or Interval International resort. If you have to cancel your reservation, they manually adjust your points so that they do NOT go into holding.

That is even worse than AllEars says. They said it was through September 30th. If your reservation is affected then DVC will be contacting you.

I was just on the DVC member web site...they are talking about a "soft opening" at Vero now around November 8th.
