What are the pass/ any discounts for DVC members??
Being the proud new members of DVC we were curious. We usually get a length of stay park hopper when we go. Now that we are DVC members, do we get a discount on our passes?? If so, how does it work?? We always booked our passes on-line (dream maker package). When we arrived at our hotel they would give us our room key and our park tickets would be on the card as well. We like the idea of having our room key, park pass, and charging privileges all on one card. Will this still be possible even if we don't get our passes until we get there?? Any info would be great. Also, should we contact someone before we get there to get our passes or should we wait?? Can you tell that our DW vacation is getting close?? We are totaling jonesen for DW by this time every year. Thanks for the help!!
MJD

Re: What are the pass/ any discounts for DVC members??
MJD...we have found that even though you get 10% off on Ultimate Park Hoppers being DVC members, you can get more for your buck if you buy Annual Passes (NOT Premium AP's...just AP's) We can go for 7 nights in May or early June at OKW for 98 points, and then return in March of following year over Spring Break for 5 nights (Sun-Thurs) for 55 points at OKW or BWV. The second trip is paid for with the exception of gas and food! AP's cost about the same as a 7 day park hopper and the same as an 8 day UPH. We always add our arrival night or our departure night on at a value resort and make sure that it falls on the more expensive night (Friday or Saturday) for DVC resorts. You have to have a separate card for your admission, but well worth it IMHO. You can also save on meals with your AP at some restaurants. You can still charge on your room key/card.
PS...we "own" 150 points per year at OKW and can do this within our point range with the exception of borrowing 3 points from the next use year. Two vacations at WDW for the price just a bit more that the price we used to pay one one!!

I would also vote for the annual pass. If I go in July 2005 for a 7-day trip, I'll pick up the annual pass. I will then go again around June of 2006 for another 7-day trip and use it again.

Re: What are the pass/ any discounts for DVC members??
We are doing the annual passes in October for the very reasons described below. We actually plan to go 3 times in a 365 day span using our DVC points. By my calculations we will spend 25 days at the parks for the $400ish cost of the passes each. That is darn cheap (and I know cheap).

Re: What are the pass/ any discounts for DVC members??
My one gripe with DVC is that the discounts for members are no greater than anyone else. I believe that Disney should take into consideration that we have made a substantial investment in them and that a reasonable discount on things like tickets would be a nice perk (to say nothing of goodwill). We, too, go the annual pass route.

That would be great news. We have ours for the next year but long-term that would be a big hit!!

Isn't that great news?!?!?! That means we've just saved $400 on our next trip!! Or does that mean we can do a tour and buy more souveniers??
