Boat from Old Key West to Downtown Disney

Has anyone taken the boat from Old Key West to Downtown Disney? How long does it take, and is it a nice ride?

Do the boats from Old Key West go to any locations other than DD?

Also wondering if there is a charge for this boat ride?

We ran out of time on our last trip at Old Key West, and I want to see if it's something we should do next time.

The boat ride to Downtown Disney is free. It takes about 15 mins and it great way to see parts of WDW you usually don't get to see. It goes from 10:00 AM to 11:30 PM. It drops you off at Capt Jacks dock where you can get aboat over to the West side starting at 4:00 PM. We have seen herons, eagles, otters, rabbits, storks and uther things as we have travel the water way.

I was lucky to be able to take this ride last week: it was easy, comfortable and enjoyable. My only recommendation is, if you really want to get to DD at a specific time (in order to make a reservation, for instance), you should probably leave earlier than you may have planned (especially if you are going at what may be considered a populatr time such as early evening). The boat only seats 12 people and they take passengers aboard on a first come, first served basis. We went at 6:30 PM and had to wait for two boats before we were able to board.
