It seems that if you are already a DVC member and want to purchase an additional 120 points then they are currently offering a deal:

$8 off per point (reduces prices from $95 to $87)
100 points this year for a one-time bonus
They will pay this year's annual dues on the 120 points (approximate value $480)

This is provided you buy before June 19th when the prices go up to $98/point. Is anyone else considering this offer? I am intrigued....

I have a couple of weeks at a Marriott, and I am trying to sell one of them. If I can get it sold, I will most likely buy more points with this offer. I guess I better hurry up.

Although I've only owned DVC for three years, I know that Disney has offered incentives to owners on several occasions. The incentives have varied though. The one that they are offering now seems to be in line with some of the others that I recall, such as a "free" stay for a week on any Disney World property.

I know if I had the $$$, I would buy the points.

BTW, someone asked about the 120 point minimum for the bonus. Yes, in order to qualify for the incentive, one must purchase at least 120 more points.

Mickey, I hope your Marriott week sells in time for you to take advantage of this bonus! It's always better to get something extra when making a purchase.

I semi-agree. I think you would still get the $8 a point discount but not the 100 bonus points. I am not sure about them paying your 2005 dues for the new points.

One extra interesting note is that you would get all of the 120 points for 2005 also. I wasn't counting on this but it makes the deal all the more enticing. BTW - I am still working my wife. Wish me luck!

We are not dvc members (yet) and when we were there last week they offered us the same deal at the open house if we signed up. They told us they were offering this $8 off incentive because all of the units that are now being deeded are not built yet and therefore you have to wait a little longer before you can use the points you get.....

We are seriously considering it. My husband is 100% commission at his job though so it makes me nervous to make that committment to yet another payment which is essentially a mortgage....a Mickey mortgage, but a mortgage nonetheless! We go to Aruba alot too and they have a resort down there where we can use the points.

Has anyone here used their points at a non-Disney location? did the reservation and the experience go smoothly?

But on the original subject, when we received the mailer for this offer I threw it away...but since we just came back from our trip and are looking at a year off next year based on the points we have, this is back on the radar. Can you can bank the 100 bonus points and use them in 2006? That would give us a vacation next year that we wouldn't have been able to take, and as somebody pointed out, SS goes 12 years longer. It is looking better and better.

I am in the same boat. Goodness, I hate commission based pay. Sounds like a pretty good offer. Something to talk to DW about.

We did it. Not only did we get the 100 bonus points, but because our original BCV points have a use year starting in December, we qualified to get the December 2004 points to bank (before May 31st). On top of a lot more flexibility for our future vacations, we just got a Disney vacation for next year. Whoopee!!!
