DVC Questions

Change of plans...
I purcahsed someones DVC points, and we will now be staying at a DVC studio at the Boardwalk.
A couple questions...
1) What kind of perks will we be able to take advantage of as a "guest of a DVC owner"
2) Is it possible to be upgraded upon check-in, same as a regular room at the Inn?
Anything you know about DVC to help us out is welcomed!!
Thanks

You will have access to anything regular DVC members do. Pool hopping, discount on golf and some restaurants and free valet parking. Just remember that with the pool hopping ,you cannot go to the AKL pool or Stormalong Bay at the Yacht/Beach Club. One other thing to remember is that staying there on points, you will not get normal Mousekeeping. Depending on how long you are staying, you will get a towel and trash day on your fourth day. If you are staying longer than 8 nights, then they do a full clean on day 4.

Possible? Yes. Likely? Not at all. With DVC, you get what you pay for. I don't think I have ever heard of anyone getting an upgrade. The reason being is that they are run differently than the resorts. Any unused rooms will be rented out to others guests, and to maximize the profit of the resort (and reduce costs for members), they want to rent out the more expensive rooms.

Which view do you have at Boardwalk? Preferred or Standard?

We have a Standard View, Studio room. DVC told me the view will probably be of the entrance.
We are staying 8 nights, 9 days. Sounds like we will get one 'mousekeeping' mid way through?? I assume that if you run short of towels, they will bring some to you if asked.
DVC does not mention any discounts available to us as DVC 'guests'. But I think I read somewhere that our resort keys do not state that you are just a guest and not an owner. It mentioned that we should not have a problem getting the DVC restaurant discounts etc.
Where could I find a list of the discount restaurants & shops?

Re: DVC Questions

Since you have a standard view, the upgrade to a preferred view is possible, since there really isn't a difference in the room, just the view. I actually prefer the standard view rooms though, they are more quiet.

The discounts change all the time. When you check in, you will get a big booklet with the discounts in there, along with other information. As far as Disney is concerned, you are a member for the time there.

If you need anything, they will bring it to you. Just call and ask.

Yup, you'll miss full cleaning if you are doing 5 days at each. There is a vacuum in the room. And in terms of garbage, you'd have to take it out yourself, if need be. The will bring in new trash can liners as part of trash & towel service on day 4.
Don't forget, these are Vacation Homes, we are expected to clean up after ourselves a bit.
