Disney's Vero Beach Resort

I am already planning my vacation for the summer of 2006!

I am considering staying at Disney Vacation Clubs resort in Vero Beach, Florida.

Has anyone ever stayed here? Your opinions?

My kids love the ocean, and all we have in Illinois are puddles.

Re: Disney's Vero Beach Resort

We stayed there a couple of years ago. It was beautiful. Nice rooms, nice pool, really nice beach. We were lucky enough to get a beach house, nothing like sitting on that balcony watching the waves come in.

I thought it was a bit remove, can't really walk anywhere. If you have a car, the town of Vero isn't too far down the road, and looked to have some nice shopping.

For me, I would stay here again for sure, but it would be a short stay, maybe 3 nights. 4 if I could get a beach house again.

Re: Disney's Vero Beach Resort

We stayed at Vero Beach last year for 3 days after a 4 day WDW trip. The resort was a little on the quiet side, but very relaxing after our time in WDW. The resort is right on the beach, but we stayed by the pool most of the time. There was a cool pool slide, a DJ poolside each day and fun pool games and activities each day. We ate at the hotel restaurants and didn't venture off property. There was a character breakfast - with Goofy and Max - a beach party. We ate at the "fancy" restaurant one night while DD was at the kids cub - which she loved. Also, there was a campfire each night with smore and singalongs!!

We would definately stay there again, but not for a full week. We really enjoyed splitting it up with a WDW trip.

I know I am going to really her about it from everyone......Cincy ducks to avoid flying objects... We would stay in Pensacola, Destin, Panama City Beach or Tampa before we went back to the east coast. There is no comparing the East Coast with the Gulf Coast. All that said, if they get a few more hurricanes, there won't be a beach to go to.

No flying objects - even though our home resort is Vero Beach, I agree with you. But Vero Beach is a nice way to spend a couple of days at the end of a WDW holiday to wind down. As mentioned above, it's very quiet and somewhat removed from everything. After all the stimulation of WDW, it's very therapeutic. (Especially if you get a massage). - but I think 2 nights would be about all I would spend there.

Re: Disney's Vero Beach Resort

I have heard many people comment on how there truly isn't much to do there other than spend time at the beach and pool.

Re: Disney's Vero Beach Resort

I like Vero Beach, I am talking about the city of.... The resort is great, but spend days there and venture off. They have a city splash pad, GREAT restaurants, a Mall, a small putt-putt ( my kids love the talking parrott). Go to Hale Groves, the local orange juice store. My kids like getting the orange juice and little orange gum balls. There is SEbastian's Inlet. great beach with best waves. It is fun to watch the surfers. There is a cute town< cant think of the name right now, that has tours of the river and has manatee and alligator viewing, we did see some dolphins. They have a restaurant with a sandy bottom, very cute.. Hey you can even do the air boat rides. Plenty of Florida wildlife, you are literally going over alligators, it is crazy. Plenty to do, YOU just have to do it. . The resort is fun. They have pool activities. My kids loved. I barely saw them all day.

Went there in June to wind down after a four day stay at SSRS. Reminds me of the same decor as OKW. If you want to go to Vero Beach - The town - it is about 7 miles down 95 or A1A or Route 1. Publix is right near by and we stocked up on groceries and ate in. The Beach was great and pool was very relaxing and not that crowded. There is still construction going on as they recover from the 2004 hurricane season. They do offer recreation activities is you want to get involved. My two seventeen year olds made me a tie for Father's Day. If you want to relax at a DVC resort I would say go for it and venture to Vero.
