Where/how do you spend you DW birthdays?

I have the wonderful opportunity to spend my first birthday in DW. Last year was the big 4-0 for me but it was also days after we got hit by a hurricane ( we got hit by two in the same area and I can't remember which was which) so I spent the day alone at home with no phone and no way for my kids and family to even call me to wish me a happy birthday . Anyway, my dilema is this, my dh is not as big of a DW fan as I am (I can't believe there are such people out there let alone that it turns out I married one??), so to say that I'm very excited to be there for my birthday is an understatement.

My question for everyone is this, what have you done in DW to celebrate your birthday? Since I'll be there on my b-day my dh has said I get to do whatever I want and he won't complain (although to be honest he usually doesn't say too much, but also doesn't do some of the things I would like to do because he doesn't like to do them, i.e. rides, some of the shows, seeing fireworks more than one time). So I need ideas from the best park to celebrate in to where to eat (I'm thinking Hoop De Doo since I would normally NEVER get dh to go there otherwise -but not 100% sure from some of the reviews I've read).

Look forward to your ideas. Thanks in advance for your input.

Re: Where/how do you spend you DW birthdays?

My mom had her birthday all week while we were there last October! At Sci-Fi, her birthday was announced, she got a free sundae, and the whole restaurant sang happy birthday to her; she was sung to at Rose & Crown; Goofy sent her a birthday card (I called the resort and asked them to send a card from Goofy, her favorite character) and I got her an Illuminations Cruise for her birthday--still my favorite memory of WDW!

Re: Where/how do you spend you DW birthdays?

Our last two trips have been in late January near my DD's birthday. I always let her pick one day on the trip to celebrate her day. We go to the restaurant of her choice and she picks all the attractions. This trip will be near my birthday. Let's see if she lets me have a day...lol

My twins spent their 11th birthday by celebrating by having lunch at the Crystal Palace. It was great fun as they announced it to the other guests and then the characters made quite a fuss about the boys. The waiter also brought out a cup cake for each of them and birthday cards which were signed by all the characters there.

I just had my big 4-0 last December at WDW and I started the day at Chef Mickey's! and a special Happy Birthday song and cupcake with candle to blow out!! I was grinning from ear to ear!!! I got my specail birthday button at City Hall and all day CM and others greeted me with "Happy Birthday" all day - it was very neat!! You can get a button at each park!! Just ask!!

Re: Where/how do you spend you DW birthdays?

You already mentioned my suggestion...the Hoop-De-Doo!

It makes a great cap-off to your birthday, that is if you LIKE the attention you'll get. The cheesy singing and maybe a spotlight in your face...it's fun! I've celebrated 2 birthdays at the Hoop-De-Doo, and it's a must for me now if I happen to be in WDW on my bday.

Another fun place...'Ohana made the whole restaurant sing happy birthday to me, and then they brought me a cupcake with Mickey sprinkles on top and surrounded on a plate full of gummy worms!

Definitely ask for your birthday button at whatever park you happen to be at! You'll get tidbits of extra attention throughout the day, and you won't have to TELL people it's your birthday repeatedly. You may get extra surprises without having to ask!
