We decided today to buy into DVC
WE DID IT!!
WE DID IT!! We just bought into Saratoga Springs until 2054. We just got back from our trip 8/18 - 8/22. We were supposed to come back on 8/21 but DW and I decided to stay an extra day and visit the DVC to see their latest offer. We figured with the number of trips we make and our kids being Disney lovers as we are we should at least look into it. The resort was very impressive and we loved the larger accomodations. The whole process was very nice. The DVC representative gave us our options and all in all it was not a pressure situation at all. But even though it was a good offer we left the resort with a 2 day window to decide if we would accept or not. When we came back we scoured the Internet and talked to friends who were DVC members and were leaning towards resales. We were looking at 200 to 210 points at other resorts but most of the resales were at other resorts that ended in 2042 and they were mostly short on initial points. Plus we woudl have to pay closign costs. But after further investigation we felt that it was a better deal to go with DVC and buy at SSR. The offer was that DVC would pay $8.00 a point and all closing costs. So we went with 160 points with our plan to add points in the near future if we needed them. We get 160 points right away and another 160 on 3/1/06. The best thing that this does is guarantee WDW trips for years and years to come. I need to look into renewing our passes so we will be set. Now we have to sit down and learn about the whole point system and how to make reservations. We are nervous but very excited. We do have 14 days to cancel with a full refund but that won't happen. Like there catch phrase says: WELCOME HOME! |

Best purchase I have ever made. I wish at the time I had purchased three times the points I did. It was so cheap then. I am sure you will be saying thing in 10 years. Congrats, and welcome home!

DVC is slightly more expensive to buy into than other Orlando timeshare deals, but you don't see weeks selling on ebay for $1,000-$2000. Disney is the ONLY timeshare that I'd buy direct.
If you can buy a timeshare for $1 there is a reason. (Which I actually did once - somebody paid over $4k for it new and I resold it for over $400 a year later!) I have my last NON DVC on ebay right now and I'm thinking more DVC points.

Congratulations!!!!! We've looked into DVC 3 times now and still can't decide. I was just looking the other day at the resales. Now we are just going back and forth - camper/dvc, dvc/camper. Can't make up our minds!
