I think I saw someone say here that the new year's points are issued in March? Let's say I buy in June, what happens? How soon can you get/use those points?

There are different use years with points are available at different times of the year. You won't have to wait a year for your points to come around you should have them shortly after you finish the paper work..

In fact, I am almost positive that we were able to book prior to the paperwork being complete although I don't know if we could have booked for dates prior to the closing. Instant Gratification at its best!!

When I added on at SS, I was able to use the points after I had submitted the signed paperwork, but before the actual closing date.

There are different use years available. They are important for banking and borrowing purposes.
When I joined, I had no idea what use year would suit me, so my guide asked when my favorite time to go to WDW was. I told her I go the last week of Nov. every year (my b'day, MVMCP, holiday decorations, low crowds, etc) so we picked Oct as my use year, so I'd have points available to go during my favorite time of year. So every Oct I get a new batch of 200 points!
I was able to make ressies right away! I didn't officially close until August but made my 1st trip ''home'' in April!

when you buy they will tell you your "use year". If you get March, March 1st you get your next years points. Last year at SSR I bought in August but was given a March use year because no points were available (SSR part 2 was still being built, they can't sell what is not built). Because I had to wait to use my points they gave a discount.
