I called Member Services today to check Boardwalk Villas availability for August 19th-26th in a "Standard Studio." Even though I can't technically make my "non-home resort" reservation until this Thursday I wanted to make sure it was available so I didn't have to replan trip point values for the next year. NOPE, NOT AVAILABLE!!!

I was so UPSET! I REALLY wanted our first WDW DVC trip to be at BWV. They DID have a one-bedroom available for the week, and they DID have "preferred view" studios available but BOTH of those options are too many points to allow the rest of the upcoming year's trips without having to keep borrowing points.

Anyway, so she booked me for that week at Saratoga Springs and put me on the "auto confirm waiting list" for the BWV standard studio for the same week. Which means if there HAPPENS to be a cancellation they take waiting list people "first come, first serve." yeah, right.

So, the good news is.. our August 19th-26th vacation is booked. bad news... NOT at the resort we wanted.

Now I am WORRIED about getting the dates I want for November, which will be during Food & Wine. A MUCH busier time than the end of August. I want that one for OKW/studio, but i can't make that one until April, so we'll see.

Sorry you didn't get the BWV, but I hear SS is beautiful. Heck anywhere in WDW is perfect. AT least you are still going right? Hope something opens up for you and you get to stay there...I'll cross fingers for you.

Sorry you didn't get what you wanted this time. I have heard a lot of people have had good luck with the wait list so there is hope. Have you tried BCV? We got lucky last summer and got a 2 bedroom at BCV for a week in July at 7 months out.

On a side note, I think as DVC membership grows it's going to get harder and harder to get a reservation at a resort that isn't your home resort. When SS sells out that's really going to increase the number of people trying to book at 7 months.

Thanks DisTeach. I was trying to avoid making a res. for the 123 point resorts (Like BCV, WLV, BWV/preferred) for the August trip b/c we still want to do a 3 night trip in November and a week AGAIN in Aug. '07. Which means our August '06 could only be BWVs standard studio, SS, or OKW.

I know it sounds confusing but I had it worked out perfectly for 3 trips points wise. Oh well, I shouldn't complain. Like you said, I am a little nervous now what future problems are going to occur when more and more people buy into DVC.

Is BCV studio more points than a standard BWV studio?

yes. during "dream" season BCV is 123 for a studio and BWV studio is 123 preferred or only 107 standard view. That's why we were going for standard view.

Sorry to hear that you may not get your 1st choice...don't give up hope, there may be a cancellation. I think you'll like SSR, it's a beautiful resort. As for OKW in November, you shouldn't have a problem. We've booked OKW at the last minute and got studios...the resort is huge, so you should be just fine. Still sending Pixie Dust your way in hopes that you'll get a call Re: BWV.

I think I am warming up to the idea of Saratoga Springs, it's Disney... how bad can it be?

Does anyone think I'll have a problem getting into OKW/studio for the Wed (the 8th)-Sat (the 11th) before Veteran's Day in November? (Vets day is the monday 13th) Now I am nervous about this availability thing.

Wish, don't worry! We've booked MANY trips at OKW and ALWAYS got the dates and room type we requested. Also, you'll love SSR...it is gorgeous!! Have you checked out the photos?? Here's a good link: http://www.suitedisney.com/id990.htm

We stayed at SSR in May 2005 in room # 3732 (studio) and it was really close to the bus stop, had a "water" view, close to the pool, and food court. It was really a great location.
