I am staying in a 1brm unit at old key west, i have 3 children and would like to be close to the main areas and the main bus stop. Could anyone give me any suggestion on what building to request when i get there.

I would request building 62, 63 or 64. They are the newest buildings, have elevators and are right by the main building/pool/bus stop. Make sure you add it to your reservation now, rather than when you check in. You shouldn't have any problem if you add it on now, and remind them when you arrive.

We were in Building 62 just last week and it was fabulous. A quick walk to the Hospitality House bus stop, the main pool, store and Olivia's. It was the perfect location. And here's a tip. When coming back on the bus, get off at the first bus stop. It's just a short walk over the bridge back to the buildings. Otherwise,you will have to go all around the resort, because the Hospitality House bus stop is the last one to be left off.

As Mickey said. Call them and make a request - however, I would add that you call again before you leave and check that it's been added to your reservation. We had called and made a request and when we got there found that it had not been added - and this situation isn't rare. Where WDW is concerned, it's always best to DOUBLE check.

Get out of here! I will definately make sure I stop in when I am down there the last week of OCtober. As for the building requests, how good is OKW about honoring these? I know at the other resorts it's 50/50 most of the time. Is OKW better about it? I really want to be close to the main of things so the kids can wander around without getting lost. I would like for them to be able to just go to the pool or whatever without needing a flare to find us again..lol

every resort i stayed at, if i didnt like where they put me, i would go back to the front desk and say it was to far out and if they could find me something closer or for now on when i check in i tell them then. and i always got a close room.

Thanks for the tip Kerry. I am definately going to be wanting to know exactly where this room is when I check in and how far away it is and such. OKW is huge! I am interested in staying in a two bedroom and later taking the lock off studio for my second part of the trip. I hope they can help me there. It will be so much easier to move by just putting everything in the studio section and just rechecking in. I guess whatever happens, happens, but it would be easier for me this way. The closeness is more important for the second part of the trip too becasue it will just be me and the girls and I need for them to be able to roam freely, but not go to far. My DD loves the gift shops (just like her mommy) and I see her and her GF swimming in the pool at night. It would be nice to just send them on their way insted of making the treck with them.

The kids are 12,13,14 and 16. The two oldest are allowed to come and go to the parks alone. The 12 and 13 year old are allowed to roam, but in the same park as me and DBF. At the resort, I would like for them all to be free and roam around, but worry about being to far away. My DD got lost at AKL once, so the idea of her having to go to far at OKW is pretty scary. They are of course allowed to all go out as a group too, but I don't see the oldest tow (the boys) wanting to hang out with the girls, but it would be nice if they did go all out together. I'm a bit anxious about this trip if you can't tell. AGain, thanks for the room assignment tip. I will be sure to remind them of where I requested and ask for something very close.

Of course this makes perfect sense to us Dana, but don't hold your breath for it making sense to OKW. To be honest - your chances are 50/50. I know OKW like the back of my hand - and it's frustrating to know that the resort is only half-full and yet they can still refuse to honour your requests. But they do - all the time. In the past I've called and given them a choice of say five buildings I'd like to be in. Think they could find a suite in any one of them? Nope. I've come to the conclusion that only one thing works: luck. Even persistence, double and triple checking can fail. Sorry to be a downer, but I want you prepared.
