In December I'll be using my DVC points for an 8 day vacation. My question is should i spend the additional $10 a day for the towel and garbage service.

I'll be traveling with 6 adults and 1 toddler.

$6 adults and one toddler....yeah I would go for the trash and towell service. You know how much trash can pile up...why look and deal with it. $10 is a bargain to me.

amen...you are on vacation...who wants to deal with anything you have to do normally at home? I am lucky and am only staying in the two bedroom for 4 nights and the towell/trash thingy happens midway through..lucky on that I guess. If I were staying in that place longer, I would definately have done that. I hate mess...don't want to look at it or deal with it.

I would pay it myself just for the peace of mind and call it a gift to the rest of the group..lol I am such a neat freak that to me, $10 is worth someone else taking care of something that I would obsess over.

Personally, I don't have a problem with this. My dh takes out the trash and I do a load of washing a couple of times during our stay. Through it in in the morning before we leave for the parks, and toss it in the dryer when we return. But if you really want to be away from any household chores, pay the extra $10.00.

I think that having new towels everyday is a waste of water and it doesn't help the environment. Why shouldn't we hang up our towels like at home and use them a couple of days?

I agree with you completely, Dopey. Which leads to the question: Who's that dirty? There are ample towels in the DVC suites for a week's stay - I usually wash them myself once through the week.

Disney thinks I'm an environmental nut anyway, because I always leave them a note pointing out all the things that could be put into their recycling bins, but aren't. It's up to us to respect and save the Earth.

personally, with 6 people i would think that hanging towels to reuse would be a real pain...whose is whose??

actually my boys are. You should see them coming out of the shower with soap dripping from their faces and dirt still on their ankles and ellbows I always have to stuff them into the shower again to clean up.
tonight after the daily football practice, and after taking a shower, I took on of DSs ellbows and scrubbed it with a scrubby pad . That made him mad. Maybe he learned the lesson?

If you're DVC members you do get charged for daily maid service. You do get a towel and trash day in the middle of the week. If you're renting like a regular resort, then the service is complimentary. Yes, I got a very nice kitty-cat at the BWV this year. And, yes, as a DVC member it annoys me that we don't get compimentary service. We've certainly paid for it - in our annual fee to say the least. That is why I'd never pay - it's the principle of the thing for me. But to each his own.

We never paid for it when staying in a DVC resort. With 8 people and two bathrooms we had plenty of room to hang our towels so they weren't in the way. When we wanted clean towels we threw a load in the washing machine on our way out the door and dried them when we got back later that day. I'm clean when I get our of the shower so I don't mind reusing a towel.

What about having everyone throw their towel in the washer in the morning and doing a load of towels every day on your way out. It won't take more than 5 minutes each day and you save the $10.
