DVC sale in 2006

I just got an ad in the mail that said we could buy into DVC with a $15 per point discount!!!! I think they are currently at $101 per, making the sale value $86 per and saving about $3000 on 200 points. Did anyone else get this ad???? We looked at DVC last year, and will probably wait at least one more year to buy after we get some other things paid off. Has anyone seen a deal like this before, or are we possibly missing the boat by waiting?

We just got that deal when we bought in October. They offered the $15 incentive if you knew a DVC member. $10 incentive if you didn't.
It was a great deals so we went for it. We were afraid if we waited the offer would expire.

I got the same ad mailed to me. It came in such a nice Passport advertisement booklet! Very cute...I *WISH* I could buy into DVC now! But we REALLY can't afford to lay out that kind of cash at the present time. When DH says we can buy it when we are in better financial shape, I tell him that it is going to be so expensive by then. He says "SO WHAT? BY THEN WE MIGHT BE ABLE TO AFFORD IT!"

So wait, I must...

Prices were $87 when I bought a couple of years ago. Now they are at $101.

I don't expect to see the prices start to slide for a LONG time - when the points get nearer the expiration dates.

If you are going to spend $$$$ every year or so DVC makes dollars and sense.

Better off spending it on your DVC membership than paying at the front desk IMHO.

We bought in March 2006 for $98. then received an $8. discount totalling $90. per. That sounds like a great deal. I wonder if you are able to purchase additional points at that rate?

When we bought I asked if we wanted to add on points would we still get the $15 incentive. Our DVC guide told us that if the incentive is still running we would have to buy an additional 115 points to get it.
I would check into it with DVC.

I suspect there will always be deals, especially as there seems to be so many Saratoga points still for sale. In fact, once Animal Kingdom points start going up for sale, I imagine even better deals on Saratoga sales will appear.

I agree with you John, the $15 discount has been available for close to a year. Last year I had the oportunity to buy SSR at $83.33 per point. I passed on it because I was not sure if we could utilize the points on an annual basis.

I see great benefits being a DVC member, but it has to fit in the plans for the purchase to be worth while. We will eventually buy, it's just a matter of time.

I actually hope you are right. Because a lot of that will be based on the economy and other situations. WDW took a big hit in tourism after 9-11. With recent developments in N. Korea, it is possible that sometime in the next 30 years, terrorists will pull off an even bigger attack. I suspect such an event will forever end vacationing (and life) as we now know it.

The 'deal' we got when we joined in 2000 was 150 free points for our first year. It was one of those emotional blackmails almost though. 'If you join today we will bank 150 points into your account' were the words I can still hear. I think we got the same words off another agent a week later when we finally decided to join

Hi,
I just bought in yesterday. We got a $1500 credit toward our down payment because we are not financing the balance. That was a huge incentive for me.
