DVC resale buying question
I am curious if anyone has ever bought from one of the resale agencies? If so what was your experience....or do you know of any repretable agencies?
I guess DH and I are considering buying, but I am in love with Old Key West....Is it worth trying to make it the home resort or isn't there much trouble planing a trip there? Sorry for all the questions, I just want to be informed |

Too many DVC points? NST

Re: DVC resale buying question
I dealt with DVCbyresale.com and she is licensed agent and DVC member.
Deal didn't go all the way through (Disney exercised the first right of refusal and bought the points) but good experience. Biggest thing is membership. You can book anywhere - it's just a place to stay onsite. The other consideration was closing costs. Buying directly from DVC they paid the closing costs which can easily add $2-5 per point to cost. Also, buying directly you get SSR which has a longer life. With promotions (currently $15 off) you can buy direct at about the same price as resale.

Re: DVC resale buying question
I just put a contract in at VWL yesterday with the Timeshare Store. They have been very easy to deal with so far. I called and emailed them about 20 times before I actually made an offer on a property and they never even once sounded irritated or like I was wasting their time. Everything is done by phone/email/fax....
I think that OKW is a good choice, we didn't have problems making a reservation there last year even 6 months in advance (we rented points from a friend) for a studio. The rooms were nice and large. Also, maintainance fees are lower there. The other thing I think that made us choose resale over SSR is that with the number of actual rooms at SSR, there are going to be alot more people in the system that may not want to stay at SSR (our original plan was to buy at SSR but never stay there) it may start to get hard to get a ressie at other resorts at the 7 month window. Even with the added closing costs (about $300 more than through DVC) we figured that it ended being worth it to us to buy where we want to stay. Hope that helps.... Amy |
