Question about annual pass upgrade

Ok... I just got my DVC membership and have not used it yet. Prior to buying it I had already prepaid an upcoming trip in April 07. Now I am thinking that I would rather get the annual pass with my DVC discount than to keep the 10 day parkhopper tickets that I will have in April- will Disney let me do this and how would I go about it? Thanks!

Re: Question about annual pass upgrade

I have never heard anyone upgrade from a ticket to a pass, but I wouldn't rule it out.

Trying calling DVC Member Services (# is on your member card) to find out. They are my "go to" people for all things Disney. I have much better luck using the Member Services # rather than the standard Disney phone numbers.

Re: Question about annual pass upgrade

I did upgrade our park tickets last year to an AP. That in itself was super easy. I'm not sure about being able to upgrade to a discounted pass though. Like Elmo said, I'd call member services to see what they say.

Good luck to you!

I would take your ticket and receipt with you at check in go to guests services at the resort and ask them to upgrade you. People have been able to sucessfully upgrade with no issue. Congrats on your DVC membership.

Re: Question about annual pass upgrade

My understanding is that you can upgrade or add to your ticket package within 14 days of the first use, after that you are out of luck.

Re: Question about annual pass upgrade

Call DVC at 800-800-9800. You have to purchase the discounted DVC annual pass through DVC so they will be able to tell you whether or not this can be done. Good Luck and let us know what they tell you.

Re: Question about annual pass upgrade

Anybody can upgrade parkhoppers. Do it at guest relations and they will credit the value of the passed to the annual pass. You have to have your DVC Membership card.

Possible to book DVC instead and cancel reservation? Could be cheaper if you can book rooms still through DVC being this close.

Oh, and WELCOME HOME.

Yeah, it's corny, but DARN if I don't like hearing it!

This won't be a problem. Just go to guest relations.

Re: Question about annual pass upgrade

I was in this VERY same situation! We had booked a 7 night package at the Contemporary, with parks tickets, etc... then decided to join DVC 3 months later. I had NO problem with switching anything over to use DVC points instead or switch for an annual pass. ALTHOUGH, my suggesion is to first talk to Member Services or your DVC rep. One thing I've DEFINATELY learned is that regular Disney reservations does not like to deal with DVC issues, and DVC will usually clarify things more easily. Did you buy these in conclusive of a package? 'Cause I know when we cancelled our package everything got refunded and then I just bought the DVC annual and re-booked using our points.

Re: Question about annual pass upgrade

Although it looks like the ticket thing is sorted out - I'd just like to re-emphasize what Wish and others have said. ALWAYS call DVC (the number's on your card), for any requests. It's true that the regular Disney Reservations are not happy to deal with DVC requests. It's just so much more convenient and easy to always use a DVC rep.

oh - and WELCOME HOME!
