Well as a last minute thought, DSis and I thought we would take a shot at making reservations at AKV for our summer 08 trip instead of OKW. We needed 4 rooms, at the 7th month window and....we ALL got it!! 2 Values and 2 Savannah views. DSis and DInLaws got the Savannahs, while DMom and my family got the Values (didn't have enough points for 2 savannahs w/our 2 other trips this year), but the CM told us that 50% of the studios have Savannah views which makes good odds for our Value rooms. Soooo, has anyone had a Value Room with a good view?? If so, please share any suggestions, room numbers, etc that we can request on our ressie. Don't get me wrong, we're SO excited about AKV, but the kids (ok, DH & I) would to have a Savannah View if we could.

You sound like you have a good chance of getting in the savannah...I have no advice on rooms having never stayed in the AKV before, but wanted to wish you luck.

I am staying there this Friday. I have a Standard View for Fri/Sat and Savanah for Sunday to Saturday. I have stayed at AKL but this will be the first AKV! I am trying to get our DVC Annual Passes but can't get the Member login to load on the DVC site!!

I am hoping at check in that they will let me have the Savamah for Fri/Sat so we don't have to change rooms.

Just take good notes or follow the order of your pictures if your a picture-taker and write it all down as soon as you get home (or on the way home to kill time). Nothing fancy...just all the fun filled details!! I have 128 long days to wait...I need something to help me through! We NEED your TR!!

I'm interested in hearing about this as well. My family will be renting points to stay there in Dec 2008, and I am trying to decide what to do. It's 8 points per night for a Value Studio and 11 points for the Savannah Studio.
I'm thinking of just b ooking the Savannah View because I know the kids will love it.


This is what I was told by the agent I will be renting points from:

Value Villas at the Animal Kingdom DVC Resort are abit smaller than the regular-sized studio villas due to the existing configuration of the Jambo House building. The regular-sized studio villas are 366 sq ft; the value studios are 316 sq ft. The Value Villas are located along the front and back of the Giraffe and Ostrich trails which are the two short hallways at the front of the Resort.

Half of the Value Studios have a savnnah view; the rest have a Standard View which is pool, garden, or parking lot.

I am interested in hearing about the Value Studios, though! Hey, if I can save money and still get a Savannah View, I'm all over it!!!!!!

When I booked they didn't have the Savanah available for Friday/Sat so I went with the standard view for 2 nights. We are getting in late,8:10pm, so Friday is a pretty much a waste of points.But I had exactly enough points for BWV in April so it saved me some points and worked out for me.This will be our first stay at BWV.

Thanks for sharing the info, I had read about the size, but didn't know about the Giraffe and Ostrich Trails. Wish we could upgrade to a Savannah, but with 22 DVC nights booked in '08, our points will only go so far.

That's over 3 trips and stretching the points as far as they will go. We'll be adding a few "off site" nights to that too...a 1st for us, but with the $ of a Disney room and the small beds at the values it just made more sense for us to go offsite for our "lead" nights into our trips and then move to DVC Sun-Thurs. We try to make the best of what we have...

If I owned DVC, that's what I'd do! Heck, we're renting points and I am moving off site to Sheraton Safari (free on points) Fri and Sat night, since it's DOUBLE the points for those nights!
