all you DVC owners... do you miss staying in the other resorts? For instance, do you switch hotels from time to time, and if you did... what happened when you joined DVC? Do you miss the different experiences of staying in other hotels???

I'm not really answering your question but adding something different.

We just joined DVC this week but we have rented points several times over the last few years. When we stayed on rented points we also added a couple of nights at a non-DVC resort. Last year we added 2 nights at POFQ just to see what it was like. We're going again in May and staying 2 nights at WL before moving to BCV. I can see us doing this in the future when we are short of points or just want to try another resort for a couple of nights.

Weekends take more points so a lot of DVC members book other rosorts during weekends and stay on points during the week.

I don't own DVC, but I rent points. When I do, I stay in a different resort on Fri and Sat nights. When I eventually buy into DVC, I am SURE we will do the same thing.

I can answer this question because this was one of my biggest fears when joing the DVC, that I would miss staying at other resorts. I like variety, if I had to stay at the same resort each time we visit WDW I might get pretty bored.

I think DVC provides enough variety to keep me happy. Since joining I've stayed at OKW, SSR, WLV, and BWVs. It's been fun discovering these new places. Prior to joining I hadn't stayed at any of those resorts.

My FAVORITE WDW resort period is AKL so I was most afraid I would miss it there, then they announced the DVC AK Villas, so I was VERY excited!

I miss CBR. We could stay there with our points. I think it takes more, but it could be done.

That's exactly what we do too, works out great!

Plus staying at DVC doesn't make me feel cheated, because I feel that I'm staying at a better resort than I would if I paid out of pocket.

It depends on the season. POFQ in the summer (April-August) would be 18 points. That's more than a weeknight but less than a weekend. I wouldn't use points unless I had some that are use or lose.

I just joined DVC this month so take this for what it's worth--I wouldn't use points at a non-DVC resort unless I had to. I would pay cash for a couple of nights if we wanted to save a few points during a trip.

I will find out in april,that will be the first time in 40 visits that I will not have stayed POR ...since we joined DVC..this trip will be at saratoga springs...will give you an update after the trip ...I have to admit I have some apprehensions

With regard to the points ..get a dvd from dvc and ask for a points chart for the next two seasons I am sure they will provide it

The DVC CM that I talked to said that a lot of people do, in fact, stay elsewhere over the weekend to save points.

But I sort of imagine a nice relaxing POR weekend, leading into a really luxurious BWV week. NICE You get the POR tradition (we love it!!!) and then you get to spread out and wallow in the BW! Perfect!

Disney makes changing resorts so easy. We usually change resorts once during a trip and it's never a problem.
