Valet parking at DVC resorts and tipping
Hey kiddies,
I have read that DVC members get free valet parking at the DVC resorts, but I was wondering if you use it, how much do you tip the guy for getting your car. Usually when we go to WDW and park we only use the car if we have are there on a Sunday for driving to church. Otherwise, the car sits in the lot and I don't think about it until we have to leave. Is there an amount that you tip if they get the car for you every day and how much do you tip if you just leave the car for a week and don't get until you are set to leave? I am thinking of using the valet when we get to AKV in May and wanted to have an idea. Thanks...

Re: Valet parking at DVC resorts and tipping
OH, we TOTALLY took advantage of the free valet service at the Boardwalk, Wilderness Lodge, and ESPECIALLY when we had rental cars in Disneyland & stayed at the Grand Californian and the Disneyland Hotel. We'd tip the valet $2 everytime we got the car, which really wasn't THAT often. In California it was more often but we still did $2. everytime they retrieved the car.

Re: Valet parking at DVC resorts and tipping
For regular Valet parking usually $2 - 5 bucks depending on how far they go, on foot or by golf cart, is a good rule of thumb.

Yup! $2 is even what the Disney Vacation book we have says. I am really glad to hear we get free valet parking as DVC! There is $70 we can spend else where!!!

Re: Valet parking at DVC resorts and tipping
We tip two dollars when we drop off, and two dollars when we pick up.

Re: Valet parking at DVC resorts and tipping
We use the Boardwalk valet all the time. When we arrive, we usually give a little more than $2 if they unload our bags (usually about $5). You will also need to tip the bell person when they deliver your bags (we do $2-3 per bag). For the rest of the trip, we tip $2 each time we pick up the car, and $2 each time we drop it off. Then, at the end of the trip, we tip the bell person again (2-3 per bag), and then tip the valet $2, and very sadly say our goodbyes!! It can add up, but they are super fast (most of the time), and it is very convenient.
So if you are not going in and out very much, you will not need to tip very much. ($2 when you get there, and $2 when you leave). No need to tip extra just because the car is sitting there. It isn't extra work for them, so they won't even know the difference. Hope this helps! Enjoy your trip!

Re: Valet parking at DVC resorts and tipping
I use my DVC card to get free Valet Parking at the DVC resorts, and when I'm having dinner at a non-DVC resort (i.e., Contemporary), I use my DDE card to get free Valet parking there!

Re: Valet parking at DVC resorts and tipping
DVCMike-I thought if you get the valet parking ticket you can park at any resort without paying the daily charge. Am I right or are you talking about for a different vacation at the other resorts? I want to get it straight b/c we travel from our DVC resort to other resorts for dinners and stuff if it's more convenient.
Plus our DVC resort is AKV but for our next vacation we will be in the Lodge b/c the others wont be finished. So will our DVC card get us free valet there? If you valet park do they take care of your bags automaticly? Then deliver them to your room automaticly? It's been so long sense we valeted right from the start and I was on my honeymoon so I probably didn't pay attention to it anyway.

I'm not sure about free valet parking at non-DVC resorts, but you will have free regular parking at those resorts (as long as you have the parking placard placed in view on your windshield - you get this when you check in). You will get free valet parking at any DVC-resort that offers valet parking (I'm pretty sure - hopefully someone will verify). Have a great trip!! ![]()

Re: Valet parking at DVC resorts and tipping
Thanks for that info, knowing me we'll leave Daytona and head rigt over first thing in the morning! So my room probably wont be ready yet. I have a pretty good idea that I will be bored in Daytona and will just be waiting to get to Disney.
So if anyone else can confirm the non-DVC valet parking thing that would be great! Last time we had to walk like a mile to get to the car at the GF without the stroller for the baby. My arms were killing me!

Re: Valet parking at DVC resorts and tipping
Just got a response from DVC member services on our Valet Question:
"Thank you for contacting Member Services. As a Disney vacation Club Member, you receive free valet parking at those Disney Vacation Club Resorts which offer valet. You would have to pay for valet parking at all other WALT DISNEY WORLD Resorts. All WALT DISNEY WORLD Resort Hotel Guests receive free parking at the Theme Parks. You may park at the resorts if you are visiting the resort for dinner or just to see the resort. You can not park at the resort if you are going to the Theme Park(s) near that resort. For example, you may park at DISNEY'S POLYNESIAN Resort if you are dining at the Kona Cafe but you can not park there if you are just going to the Magic Kingdom. If you are not staying at Disney-owned and operated hotel you will still have to pay for parking at the Theme Parks. Only Resort Guests and Annual Passholders receive complimentary parking." I hope this info helps!

Re: Valet parking at DVC resorts and tipping
Like everyone else said, $2-$5 ...everything depends on the service to me. $2 would be a bare minimum for average service and up from there depending on the situation. Why should someone who take their sweet time getting the car get the same tip as someone who goes all out in the service part of the job?

DVC Mike- I was wondering what the DDE is? I know that it means Disney Dining Experience but how do you get it and what is it all about? How do you use it to get free Valet parking?
