DVC questions

Hi all. Again I am wondering about DVC. I went to the site and they were unable to give me info because I live in NJ.

I was wondering for a basic plan what would it cost per month? I was thinking about this purchase my my DD and I since we love to travel all over.

Thanks so much for any help

Re: DVC questions

When I joined, I think it was $183/mo for 200 points. Why can't they give you the info?

Re: DVC questions

It depends on which interest level you get. I believe 160 points is about $160 per month, or $180 per month - not 100% sure.

That is the info we received on financing when they sent us the Dreams book when we signed up a few weeks ago. There's a chart with different levels of points, years, interest, etc...

I would guess it could range from $160 - $300 per month with the 10 year financing option, depending on how many points you buy. That doesn't include annual dues, which can also be done monthly or yearly.

I remember looking at the financing and thinking it wasn't bad at all in terms of what it would have been monthly.

Re: DVC questions

Lets see, it will depend on what you can put as a down payment. But I want to say we did the minimum and we pay about $238 for our loan on 200 points and annual dues this year are about $873 and they will divide that to pay each month for you. It all depends on the deals you can get as well. Disney Visa even had something going on and we got a $500 card to spend in Disney from them.

Different real estate laws covering timeshare sales most likely.

In Jersey you have to buy from Tony Soprona.

Maybe but think about the money you're going to spend and how that could go toward your own DVC. I rented over 200 points last year and another 100 points this year, that's $3000 that I could have put toward my own DVC.

Very very true. Im going to try to re fi my car. I have a brand new car and its $620 a month so if I can get that down to $500 and add DVC its like nothing ever changed! My DH wanted to have a house built in the next few years but Im content where Im at. I rather plan Disney

Re: DVC questions

Have you looked into resale? Buying out someones points.
I would totally buy anything from Tony Soprano! hehe
I actually met 2 cast members from the show the one named after a female body part aka Vincent Pastore...he was promoting something and it seemed like he just couldn't be bothered. But Richie...David Proval, he was the nicest guy I have ever met!

Re: DVC questions

What got me involved was talking to a guy at work. His daughter got married and he used his DVC points and gave her a week in Hawaii.

Personally, I'm heading to Europe in 2009.

Re: DVC questions

T24 --

First, you CAN receive information and phone calls if you live in New Jersey. Simply ask them to send you the appropriate form to fill out -- it states that you want them to call you. I had to do this in February when we bought DVC. It took only moments, and everything was fine.

Second, we pay something like $80 per month. Maybe a little less...

I can relate - I'm kicking myself for not joining sooner - I could've practically paid for half of the whole thing with the amount we've spent on accomodations these last 5 years!

Re: DVC questions

If you do consider resale, there are plenty of reputable businesses that deal with timeshare resales. If you think you may be interested in checking out resale info, send me a PM and I will give you the contact info for the people DW & I used.

You and me both. We've stayed in a deluxe resort every year since 2003 and could have paid for at least half of our DVC contract with that money.
