Where would you stay New Years eve?

If you had a chance to go to WDW between Christmas and New Year where would you recommend to stay?

We are going down for a couple weeks and are wondering if we should stay in Disney during peak season or stay in our Sheraton Vistana from Dec 26-Jan 2 and stay the balance of the holiday at SSR & BCV.

Given the high point requirement during the peak season we would have to stay in a studio during Dec 26 to Dec 31st if we stay in Disney, however, if we stay at the Vistana we would stay in our 2 bdrm unit.

Would you give up the comforts of the two bdrm unit for a studio in Disney, we are going to stay in Disney from Jan 2 to jan 7th, so it's not like we are not going to be in Disney.

We have never been to Florida during this period and need some suggestions and advise from others that have stayed during this period either on-site or off-site and what their experience has been.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

TK

I think at this point gettting in a DVC resort at Christmas is going to be tough but you may get lucky and get something at OKW or SSR. I have read that BCV, BWV, and WLV are wait list only and have been since the 11 month window.

I would personally stay on property. you have access to EMH that way and I think that is VERy important during the busy holiday time.

Re: Where would you stay New Years eve?

Steph, we have reservations already booked for SSR and BCV, I would only be looking to extend our SSR for another 3 days, these being Dec. 30 to Jan 1inclusive, I don't think that I would have a problem at this resort. I was wondering whether it is worth to give up our extra space for being on site.

DOES DISNEY DO ANYTHING SPECIAL FOR NEW YEAR THAT IT IS BENEFICIAL TO BE ONSITE?

Dana, what is EMH?

Thanks,

TK

Re: Where would you stay New Years eve?

We stayed at the AKL over new years 2006/2007, during the day we hit Epcot and saw in the brisith new year around 7pm which was pretty fun. The crowd levels were ridiculos, you could hardly move let alone go on any rides or grab something to eat (get PS!), even shopping was out of the question! We were getting really flustered though we expected it to happen, we'd been in Epcot since rope drop and were wrecked so headed back to the hotel around 10pm-ish. In the lobby they were setting up music and a dance area, people were milling about all dressed up etc with drinks in hand. We all ended up falling asleep and missed the midnight slot but wern't too bothered because we had very eary PS at Crystal Palace for next morning, New years day was alot nicer than new years eve! MK was empty for most of the mornin because alot of people had been up celebrating late on into the night.
