Free Internet starts May 4

DVC has finally announced the start date for free internet:

Quote:

Based on Member feedback, the daily charge for wired high-speed Internet access for Members staying at Disney Vacation Club Resorts at the Walt Disney World® Resort will be discontinued effective May 4, 2008. Guests renting Disney Vacation Club accommodations will continue to pay the daily rate for access, and high-speed Internet access charges still apply to Members staying at non-Disney Vacation Club Resorts.

Wow...that's cool. I have an aircard for my laptop, so it won't matter to me, but it's cool that they have this set up for people who don't.

Yeah...the wife is going to boycott that one and throw the laptop out...She already wants to take the PDA phone hostage for the week!

I think it can depend on things. DH had to take his along for business and I wanted to through the thing out! I hated it, "I have to answer this!" In the middle of a meal or while we're trying to decide what to go on but a laptop can't go to the parks and stuff with you! Not AS bad!

Not that I can do much from Florida for emergency managment, but I have often done tech support to our communications center when a computer crashes or radio fails. But with that comes the emails and sms to the phone.

Yea! I was hoping this would happen before our May/June trip. We just got a little lap top that will be easier to travel with when we fly.

Since this is not wireless, what type of equipment is necessary to bring along if we bring our laptop this summer?

I don't know that you have to bring anything, last summer we connected our computer with the cable that was hanging in the closet.

Yes at DVC resorts they are in the closet...but if it isn't there when you check out, they charge you..I forget the fee, but it is on the bag in which the cable is in. :)

It took them 5 months to put this into place? Come on, it's not that difficult. DVC Member or not. It's already on the reservation - shows on your room key.
