That's all really, I just want more points.

I am still kinda bummed that AKV never became my home resort, it's my absolute favorite resort of all time & everytime we call at the 7-month mark to get into the Villas they are full. I am on the waitlist for October now.

I know 160 points per year should be enough for two adults with no children but I want 200. Or actually enough 'extra' points to consider AKV our home too.

PS: I totally can't afford more points at this juncture in time... but I still want more.

We bought 200 points just ot be sure we always have enough but I'm sure we could easily double that and not have too many.

For now we'll have 10-12 nights in a studio. However, once we're no longer working we are so adding on!

Yeah, we've been getting 10-12 nights a year in a studio on 160 points but we've mostly been staying at SSR, OKW, and the coveted BWV "standard room" which is significantly less points than Beach Club, etc.

I'm totally happy but I'd just LOVE to be able to stay in a one-bedroom at least once & stay at AKV without having to be on a "waitlist."

I remember how sad you were that you had just bought at SSR when AKV was announced. I wish AKV had been announced a few months earlier, it would have saved you being on the waitlist. I hope when the new building is done you will have an easier time getting in at 7 months.

Yeah, it was definately unfortunate timing on my part. I remember sitting in that DVC room and specifically ASKING, "I've heard rumors about Animal Kingdom Lodge, is this true? It's my favorite resort in the world I'll be really upset if we buy then Disney decides to do AKL." The guide swore UP AND DOWN that this was not the case & it was purely rumor based on zero facts."

I know he could have lost his job for telling me inside information so I TOTALLY don't blame him. We had already waited 2 years after our initial tour, got a great SSR deal, so we just did it.

Then ding, ding, ding... sure enough... we found out in August '06 that they were coming out with DVC AKL Villas.



Oh well, we are definately happy being members and HOPEFULLY once the full village at AKL gets finished it might be easier for us to get in... who knows.

Maybe you could add on 50 AKV points this year. You could bank and borrow to get 150 points toward a trip every 3 years.

We just bought 160 in March and I called yesterday about adding points - 50 more to be exact, to increase to 210.

We love to vacation with family, so we should have really done this in the first place.

Plus, you could buy 50 points at AKV, and then you could alternate years.
Like, borrow and/or bank from AKV for one year, and the same with your SSR points. And overall you'd be able to get a 1 bedrrom every year at the least, at AKV, or SSR.

That's true Fizzy! Maybe I need to make a call to my DVC guy. I could probably convince Daniel to do it for Christmas, if we don't get each other gifts. There's an idea. Are you even allowed to just buy 50 points at AKL Villas if you're already a member?

You can purchase an add-on as small as 25 points (if you pay cash) or 50 points (if you finance) at any of the DVC resorts.

It doesn't have to be another home resort. If you buy 25 AKV points you can book there at 11 months out with those 25 points. You can add on points at any resort, not just your current home resort.

See, last time I called and asked (but this was awhile ago) the dude told me I had to have a minimum amount of points to book at the 11-month window for a second ownership. Maybe this has changed, I'm not sure. I just can't remember how many he told me!!?!?

It's my understanding that you can add on at any resort with any number of points. You shouldn't have to buy 160 points (or the 100 point buy in at AKV that is currently being offered).

I may be totally wrong in my thinking, your guide should know more than me!

OK, I just got off the phone! I sware my dude was like expecting my call or something, he answered the phone and I SWARE he knew it was me right away. I think he spys on me here!

ANYWAY, he explained that if I add on 50 points I CAN get the "11 month booking window" SO LONG as the trip I am trying to book is LESS THAN 50 points! In other words, let's say I buy 50 points at AKL Villas, call at 11-months to book a trip costing 70 points (which would require me to spill over into my SSR points), they would NOT let me book at 11 months.

So, I am going to look at all the points charts and try to figure out how many points we'd need for a 3-night stay at AKL Villas every year.

Great! I thought that was the way it worked.

Don't forget you can bank and borrow if you want a longer stay.
