Why we purchased an AKL DVC!
My wife and I have discussed the DVC numerous times over the years, but have never taken the plunge. That is until this year. Yes, we are the newest addition to the DVC AKL family!!!
Why have we visited WDW five years in a row, and why did we purchase DVC? The answer is simple. To quote my son, “Disney is the safest place on Earth.” My son has severe life threatening food allergies. At WDW, he is treated like a King every time he orders a meal. This past summer, our son was diagnosed with Asperger’s Autism. Once again, WDW bent over backwards to make our son feel comfortable to be himself. Last evening, we purchased a 175 point DVC AKL package. After we signed the final documents, we went to Captain Jack’s for dinner. As has always been the case, the restaurant manager reviewed the ingredients of our orders and customized items as needed. We monopolized her time during our meal. She spent long periods of time talking to our son about Lilo and Stitch. He was the center of attention, and he loved it! Tonight as I was having a bit of buyer’s remorse with regard to the DVC, there was a knock on the door of our room at POR. My wife answered the door to find a CM holding a gift bag with balloons tied to it. Inside the bag were a stuffed Stitch, a Stitch Football, and a matted autographed picture of Lilo and Stitch. As my wife gave me a puzzled look, she pulled a card from the bottom of the bag. It was from the Manager at Captain Jack’s. The card said that both she and the waitress were so impressed by our son’s knowledge of Lilo and Stitch, that they wanted to send him a gift. I sit here on the eve of our last night at WDW for 2008 a very humble man, a man with tears in his eyes. A father, of a very special boy, who will never again wonder if buying a DVC was the right thing to do. It is a place where my son, even though he carries an auto injector, can be a kid. Welcome to Mousebuzz and "Welcome Home"!!! I'm glad you are feeling good about joining DVC...it will provide great family memories for years to come. It is also great the CMs went out of their way to give you a very special magical moment.
