Do you mind another question? Did you get any incentive when you signed? I called MS and asked why. I was told depending on the use yr, some people got incentives because they would have to pay part of the yr without getting points for that yr. To me that doesn't sound like a "free" crusie or "free" DP.


Wishy, I understand about the pro-rating, but why would I need to pay for points that I don't get until dec. I could see if I had to pay for one month but not 3 or 4. MS said not everyone will pay starting aug 3, some will start in sept or oct as units are ready.

Well, I got the developer points as an incentive but I think that was a general incentive for add-ons during certain dates.

I was annoyed when MS said we would have to pay because of the incentive. If I had had a choice I would have much rather paid for 5 months and gotten the yrs points, but it's all worked out now.

When we signed we had gotten the DP points but before the 10 day period was up, we were able to switch to the cruise. I was just concerned about paying MF for points we didn't have. If we had planned it right (like you did) we would have had the yrs points AND the DP I guess. We had waited because we were only going to get 60 points so the incentives didn't matter too much. It was just at the last min, we decided to get the 100 points.

I was almost in the same position as you. I thought I was going to have to pay from August with an October UY, but found out I would only owe for the last 3 months.

Of course, then it got me thinking that I would rather have a UY that gave me points earlier in 2009 (June would be ideal), so I called back my guide and had the contract switched to a June UY. Although I will have 2 UY's now, it is worth it. Since I had not yet closed, I was able to make the switch.

Now I will get my points in June, instead of October. We travel in the summer so its like getting an extra set of points since I can bank them for my August 2010 trip (we are going on the developer points in August 09).

My MF will now be for 5 months, but at least I have the points sooner!

Now I'm wondering again. So this was an add on that you did? I thought you always got the same use yr with an add on. I also would have taken a different use yr.

well, I read the thread and I bought into AKV I know a different resort but I bought in Dec and closed in Jan and my first payment to DVC was today!
