I had a similar situation happen to me last year and came into contact with a wonderful DVC customer care specialist. Not a regular CM. She was able to resolve and I got ressies. PM me if you'd like details.

I am glad you got on a waitlist, but teh original problem still exists. I had the same issue last christmas. I couldn't believe it, in an economy like we were/are dealing with, no availability? What?!!!! I will pray you get a room!

I completely understand the DVC system, but it frustrates me as well that it is difficult to get a room 7 months out!

Miss Dis, that STINKS!!!!! I am so sorry for you! I actually have 5 nights reserved at BLT in a Studio that I am renting for check in 12/28.

It's the craziest thing... there are rooms all over the place, but only one night here, two nights there -- I can get the full week of vacation if we are willing to pack up and move a few times.

I ended up having to book a Marriott for over two grand as a backup in case the DVC waitlist doesn't work.

I love DVC, but it's definitely one of those plan-ahead things. You can't count on it for last-minute ressies (if you count 7 months as last-minute...)

Were you inquiring only about 2 bedrooms? I would have thought you could have got a couple studios at least at OKW or SSR. Wow!

That is very true. I wouldn't give up my DVC but it does require more planning than I used to do. I knew going in we would need to book at 11 months out but that's not always possible. We travel a lot in the summer and that's actually a slower time for DVC so it's a little easier to book a trip after the 7 month mark.

I told all the CMs that I would happily make do with ANY size rooms with ANY view at ANY resort -- except a 3-bedroom grand villa, because I didn't buy enough points for that.

I don't know MissDis, I am not sure I'd shell out the cash for Marriot as a backup. If it were me I'd take those seperate nights at different DVC resorts & waitlist something 'all together.' If worse came to worse they move everything for you , switching resorts could potentially be a bummer BUT it doesn't take a big portion of your day. If you travel light & don't focus on the switch it could be an 'adventure' to check out different resorts.

YAY!!! I am SOOOOO excited you got it!!! I'd be callin' Member Services as we speak just to make sure everything is cool & legit! I KNEW something didn't sound right I SWARE, SSR is SOOOO huge! We've ALWAYS been able to get something past the 7 months, even when I did my last minute solo trip & called one week before.

Phew! Disaster averted!
